To be clear Othello did not need any critics to succeed. And I think that is reflected in the box office. Certainly not the worst reviewed. If you could find a review without the mention of price then I might agree.Also, did you read Stranger Thing's. Yikes.

I am curious why there is so much backlash at Othello when GNGL is clearly on track from 3.2M week next week. If they did 2.5M in 5 shows imagine what the other number will be. Yet this board is quiet. Just noticing a distinct difference.

Gross or you just jealous. What is gross that Broadway and a play are finally earning? How many seasons do we watch shows fold and complain, and then say oh investors aren’t going to keep funding. We do this all the time. And now finally those investors and a show are doing well. I say good for them. Two stars? In one play! Wow! I loved it both times. And hope they keep going!

Hearing whispers that Othello might just be the biggest thing on Broadway right now—word is their advance is a record-breaking $28M, making it the highest across all shows. Tickets are definitely pricey, but the digital lottery is the way to go if you want a shot at getting in. Seems to me, when I saw the show it is worth the price. Was there last night. No issues with locking up my cell phone. Show was pretty cool to me. I have never seen Othello. But it was thrilling. It was a final dress rehearsal. They kept saying family viewing but, I think its feeling very OLD SCHOOl...like they will need preview time. And then hit it out of the park.

Small correction this production has NOT recouped. So it is quite imperative the show make change,. I agree about hiring another director. Schele is not the right person for the job.

This review was pretty interesting... I was at this performance of the WIZ, gotta say the theatre was on fire. The crowd was on their feet and with the cast the entire time. I also gotta say, the direction of the show was terrible. I was sitting in row M on the right side of the theatre and missed so much of the show. Often times people were just milling around.
