Have any of the keys been lowered for Josh? Pippin has some high stuff and I would imagine it would be somewhat difficult for someone not extensively trained in musical theater.

Do you think the Buffy musical episode "Once More, With Feeling" could ever work on stage off-Broadway? I remember hearing somewhere that Bernstein cringed when he attended some performance of either the film or a live revival of West Side Story that used the overture. I never really saw the point of an overture for West Side Story. The prologue is about 7 minutes of orchestral music (with the phenomenal dancing of course), is there really a need for a five minute overture on top of that?

I think the Oklahoma! overture is my favorite. That opening trill leading into the violins and woodwinds playing those 16th-note runs gets me every single time. I still don't understand why they changed it completely for the movie.

Haven't watched it all yet (up until The Contest), but the first chunk was pretty great IMO. One of the few moments I really didn't enjoy was Terfel's acting in the scene between Poor Thing and My Friends. He seemed so.... Unconcerned... But I thought his voice was phenomenal. And the orchestra itself made up for any major issues I had with the production as a whole.
