Let's have a round of applause for the Weisslers for not killing a good thing; granted, their hands were tied, because how many celebs are willing to go to the NY Circus School, but hey... this time they knew well.
Would The Visit fit into the Music Box??? I didnt see the Doyle production so have no idea if the set would fit into this space, but would seem ideal for the show.
Surprising that a show with universal raves cannot make the 2 year mark. Maybe it has to do with an actor having to be an acrobat instead of just being an actor.
When an actor has to worry about being on a trapeze or balancing on a ball instead of acting it sort of made this inevitable.
Maybe they can give all the acrobats another job with bringing Barnum finally back to Broadway!
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
The Visit is a wonderful Kander & Ebb show, starring Chita Rivera in a juicy leading role. It has had 3 regional productions, the most recent at WTF, which would be the production to transfer (if one does).
This makes me really sad. Fair well to this stellar production. I will have fond memories. Also hoping to see once, if not twice when it comes to my city.
The show was magical the first time I saw it. One of my favorite nights at the theatre. When I returned, the energy wasn't there. Here's to a great run!
