HIGH SPIRITS at Encores!

I was Balcony Row B - about 7 seats off  the aisle...did not miss a single thing on house right and had a full view of any action on the raised platform.  The last two rows of the musicians in the back  were cut off by the proscenium but that was it.  The full show was in view...though higher up..I love it...the distance is closer to the stage than most balcony overhangs.  Its a steal!

HIGH SPIRITS at Encores!

I saw this last evening and so glad I did!  I am a big Blithe Spirit enthusiast.  I love Coward's original play and I can see how he directed and took part in this musical adaptation back in the 60's.  The original creative team did what Hello, Dolly! produced (in the same season); they took solid source material and created musical numbers in place of specific dialogue and/or enhanced what Coward wrote.  The musical is campy and fun and very

TLC Musical, New Adaptations of DAMN YANKEES and PAL JOEY Will Play Arena Stage

I was fortunate to see this on Wednesday. I’ve always been a fan of the score, the film (the original Bway Cast) and the OBC Album. That said, what a SUPERB Production. The leads and supporting cast are superb …..

Sergio Trujillo’s directorial vision honors the original (it’s all there) in its 1955 glory. Doug Wright & Will Power have revised certain aspects that flesh out the book within its original blueprint. The cast is superb: 22  talents combined

Tim Hughes dragging Jordan Donica

Joe Hardy was transformed into a younger, high talent athlete. Not a Broadway choreographer.

whatever Danica’s strengths/weaknesses may be, as we all have them, I trust he’s executing the material as it suits the sequence.

One can share their perspective about casting specifics but do NOT drag a FELLOW PERFORMER through your mud.

Really tacky.

BCEFA 2025 Broadway Flea market collectors unite!

Yes, I was at the Gypsy table twice - as long as I could take a look. They had the following that I saw and lists of stock they had:

Mazzepa’s Trumpet

Tessie’s Ballet Shoes - each signed by all 3 Ladies.

Two Pairs of Silver heels (Not sure which Characters - they were labeled though).

Uncle Jocko’s small squeak horns

Chow Mein containers and empty take out containers all used.  Also, two tea kettles from the sam

Anyone seeing Montego as Rose?

It was a very mixed-bag for me. Glover left me cold yet (sometimes) slightly engaged. Star quality of her own and a beautiful voice to match.  Returning to a production for a different performers characterization is always fascinating to watch.  Montego was very grounded and made the dialogue her own but there wasn’t much to it.

Unfortunately, by the end of Act 2 it dawned on me; I would have preferred her to play Louise (in previous years.).

50th Anniversary Revival of A CHORUS LINE still on track for 202

SAME.  I had ONE ticket in my cart - standing room and it immediately went to a page error message since 12:03pm.  It's now 12:21pm.  Tried several browsers ....no luck.  OH well.  I expected a digital Queue line...and it was fine to wait for the initial page to load and allow access around 12:05 but this kinda stinks.

OLD FRIENDS Reviews

I caught the show this evening. It’s a two act evening that is exactly what you would expect; a musical revue. The Orchestra is sublime and the set is simple but charming for this type of piece.

Beth Leavels “Ladies Who Lunch” was the standout. I enjoyed the choices she made. Several people stood.

Gavin Lee’s “Could I Leave You?” was most charming and welcomed.

SUNSET BLVD. Reviews

I saw the show last Wednesday (my third time) and saw Diego Rodriguez as Joe Gillis. First let me say, I enjoy his energy as Artie very much and feel he is well cast. His work as Gillis is solid. He was obviously well rehearsed, even this early in the run. He played off of Scherzinger very well and had great chemistry with Betty (also an understudy).

Diego actually struck me as a young Tom Cruise type.  There was a boyish innocence displayed. Not equipped to handle

Adam Lambert -Cabaret

I’d love to listen. Can’t find it. DM me?

Adam Lambert -Cabaret

Lambert is knocking it out of the park and it’s only his first performance. Truly a great actor. He gives us fantastic vocals but doesn’t blow you away for the sake of doing so. Very nuanced, both funny and serious. That man is a great stage talent.

Cravalho knocked it out as well. I much preferred her take on the role prior to seeing it last spring. Just my opinion. I can’t say I agree with all the directorial choices for this production… but

Jodi Benson in Hello, Dolly! Orlando, FL

Caught the first performance of Dolly! Last night at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando. What a wonderful performance. Albeit, her first performance, Jodi Benson is a superb Dolly Levi. Having seen the last five ladies from Bette onward (including the tour) Jodi Benson should have been passed the torch in the last revival, if not on the road.  Her characterization was truly fleshed out. She found laughs in moments where I hadn’t expected and displayed a wonderful determination throughout. Her PARADE was sublime. Her legacy is her characterization of Ariel for which she still is representing in her work, though her voice is as mature, nuanced and powerful. That woman can SING.

I did not catch Gypsy on Ft. Meyers last season and doubt I’ll get to Rodchester for the next production. It’s quite clear from last evening, that Benson should return to the stage in roles that suit her as she is a wonderful musical theatre performer.

If you’re local and can snag any remaining seats, do try to get over to Steinmetz hall. I’d give anything for a cast recording.

CABARET at the Kit Kat Club (2024) Opening Night Critics' Reviews

We saw this last evening. Cabaret is one of my favorite shows. From professional productions to community players, I love the story. That said, I did not care for this revival at all.

Possible Spoilers:  Granted it was MY decision to experience the table package and join for the pre-show prior to curtain. Walking down the alleyway, up and down steps to go back to the main lobby, where the “pre-show” waits you.. anticlimactic.  The cast is tale

MOTHER PLAY seating question

I sat Mezz Row E103. Great sight line and no head obstructions, the mezz is raked.
