West End's Funny Girl opens tonight

Meiner Chocolate Factory productions count as "West End"??

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. Initial comments on theatreforum.com are positive with several gushing over Sheridan Smith's portrayal.  One poster says that Smith's "otherness" is demonstrated in part by her being significantly shorter than every other person in the show.  So she can be a "bagel".  .  .

Per  posters: Arnstein has a "new" song - Temporary Arrangement" which was cut from the original. Arnstein is supposedly made more sympathetic in Act Two.   "Who taught her everything she knows" is now in Act Two and "Find Yourself a Man" is cut.  "Funny Girl" has been added, but not "My Man.".  And another "new" song:  "What do happy people do" but no indication who sings it.

Just like Elena Roger in the crappy revival of Evita.  Why was she the only one on stage under 6 feet?  She looked like a dwarf in a gown.

"My Man" has never been a part of the stage score. It's not 'cut'.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

"My Man" has always been better than "The Music that makes me dance". It's the scene that solidified Barbra getting the Oscar. It's such a great powerhouse. Terrible that they cut it.

As others have said, the song wasn't part of the original score, so there is not cut actually

I don't like calling people names, but HEY MORON! It was NEVER part of the STAGE play. It HAS NOT been cut. IT WAS NEVER THERE. LOOK IT UP!

Jesus. That annoyed me.

"The Music That Makes Me Dance" is a fantastic song in its own right and not self-pitying like "My Man," which contradicts everything in the stage script.  And really, the "Don't Rain On My Parade" reprise occupies the "My Man" slot, though "Music" makes a similar backstage to on stage transition like "My Man".   But I suspect you are just trolling.

It's just as well. No one can sing that song like Barbra can. Having to sing that whole score and then having to top it off with a number like My Man would be incredibly taxing. Probably would have been a disappointment.. Cheers to the queen: https://youtu.be/Hdlz6QzyAVA

Excepting only the "My Man" was the real Fanny Brice's big hit .  In fact it's the only song of her's sung in the film. I thought that was a nice little tip of the hat.  But on a stage- Who knows how well it would work.

"The Music That Makes Me Dance" is my all time favorite Jule Styne song. So glad they didn't make the mistake of replacing it with "My Man" as the film did. I've heard the song covered by everyone from Judy, Liza, Lorna Luft, Diahann Carroll, Carmen McRae and Lauri Beechman. Unfortunately once you've heard Barbra perform it, whether on stage or on the original cast album, no one else can come close to delivering it as well as she did.

Actually, the movie of FUNNY GIRL includes several songs that Fanny Brice sang in real life:  "I'd Rather Be Blue" and "Second Hand Rose" as well as "My Man."

I would expect Jule Styne's estate wouldn't approve a production that wanted to cut his songs, however, in favor of using Brice's actual repertoire.

Saw the original, without Streisand, and My Man was definitely not in the show. It was in the movie which was ok. It was not great as a few production numbers from the show were cut as we're a few other songs. Better than the original Annie movie but not as good,as it could have been IMO

My Man is a great song but so is The Music That Makes Me Dance which is one of Jule Styne's best songs so I hope they didn't cut that!
