Tony Award Snubs!

Jun 13, 2016 — 4:09:51 AM

Clearly and obviously if it weren't for the overrated hype of Hamilton:Shuffle Along--choreography, costumes, lighting designFiddler--Dany BursteinShe Loves Me--Jane Krakowski, Orchestrations

Where Does Miranda Go From Here?

Jun 13, 2016 — 4:03:54 AM

Let's hope he gets off his ego trip and gets back to doing more work like the superior work he did for In The Heights. Hamilton, even though an overly hyped mess pails in comparison to the work of In The Heights where there was true heart and genuine soul.

Best Actress and Featured Actress

Jun 13, 2016 — 4:00:04 AM

The only reason she got the nomination was so that Hamilton could break the record. She shouldn't have even been nominated.

OFFICIAL 2016 TONY AWARDS VIEWING THREAD

Jun 13, 2016 — 3:58:24 AM

Where was the diversity in this year's awards? Everyone kept yapping their fat larded mouths off about the Academy Awards but not a single play or musical that represented gay men or women? Not to mention but there wasn't one that was even on Broadway this year.OK well I guess it only counts if there are people of color in your play/musical. I'm really surprised that there hasn't been backlash about the four winners in the acting categories for plays due to the fact that they are all whities....

Official 2013 - 2014 Tony Awards Thread

That Hedwig number was awful. I certainly won't be buying a ticket for that. Lucky for NPH that he has the favorably reputation in the theater community he does otherwise I don't see how he could win Best Actor in a Musical for this.

Alec Baldwin Sounds Off on Brantley

May 8, 2013 — 2:22:17 AM

Please if anyone here can write theater criticism, then stop whining and moaning about Brantley. Go to the Times tomorrow morning and interview for the job yourself. Or try any other of the top publications for the job of critic. Submit your critiques and if they are worthy of being published then you will have yourself a new job and you won't have to read anymore of Brantley's ramblings. Good luck with that you Monday morning quarterbacks! And be ready for the backlash when people don't agre...

Does La Bette do the Stage Door Thing?

May 8, 2013 — 2:09:18 AM

When you are a "supposed" star and have to call for lines 10-15 times during a public performance then you have no business signing for anyone and should get in your car and have them drive you straight back to Hollywood so we don't have to see your sorry ass in NYC.

Alec Baldwin Sounds Off on Brantley

May 8, 2013 — 1:52:57 AM

In any case Alec, don't let the door hit your sorry ass too quick on your way out. People just weren't interested enough in you and this sorry revival.

Alec Baldwin Sounds Off on Brantley

May 7, 2013 — 11:35:00 PM

Ah Poor Alec, maybe if you can't take the heat you should get out of the kitchen. Get used to it. There are hundreds of better actors willing to take your role. It's called being in the business. You want the glory then you need to take the criticism. This isn't like winning an Emmy Award when you win based on the popularity or ratings of your show as opposed to having real talent. You actually have to do quality work to have it praised. Find a better play to do good work in and maybe you wou...

Any Word on the AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY Film?

May 4, 2013 — 10:36:33 AM

Yep. This is going to be a disaster. As if Julia Roberts could even hold one candle in the wind to match Amy Morton's stage performance. Let alone Meryl Streep try to even be compared to Deanna Dunagan. This will be forgotten and swept under the rug before you can even say "Jekyll and Hyde". At least we'll be able to see Julia and her horseteeth braying in a representational and "dramatic" performance that can only elicit laughs when they are not meant to be.

Am I the only person who hated FELA!?

Apr 12, 2013 — 2:44:13 AM

No. You are right. This show was a complete and total disaster. Boring and with screeching singing all night long. Basically a waste of space on Broadway.

MATILDA Reviews

Apr 12, 2013 — 2:33:41 AM

That's a laugh After Eight. Just keep in mind this is the same wheezy old hack who thought "Hit the Wall" was highly theatrical and didn't kow-tow to the usual broadway playwrights' "standards" when it was probably the most cliched and unoriginal production to hit off-Broadway this year. I guess he likes to sit on his in home hospital bed while eating cheese puffs and watching reruns of RuPaul's drag race since the dialog in that show was a poor man's version of that dreck that he must endles...

Anyone see Bette Midler's first show?

Apr 9, 2013 — 3:54:24 AM

This has to be a complete embarrassment if she can't even learn her lines for this show. There are so many other one woman shows out there that when Miss Shitler needs to call for lines she can't even find her way in the script or flounders around like a dipschitz. Pass on this fiasco. Her lazy azz wouldn't last 3 seconds if I was a producer of this bs. I don't go to the theater to have old washed up stars floundering around with their lines like a f'ing mermaid in a wheelchair. Maybe that wo...

Hit the Wall opening February 19 at Barrow Street Theater

Mar 23, 2013 — 4:30:26 AM

Boy this one was a doozy. Talk about affected playwrighting at its worst. Every one of the characters in this show is a cliched stereotype. The writing in this show bores you into a stupor with frustrating dialog that prattles on like the artificial speech you can only hear on Rupaul's Drag Race. If you enjoy that kind of dreck then you will probably enjoy this show and think it is theatrical or ground breaking. If this isn't the definition of a coddled self-absorbed playwright then I don't k...

bare revival question

Mar 23, 2013 — 4:17:27 AM

I didn't see the original but watched it on youtube. Saw the revival multiple times and the improvements from the version on youtube actually made the revival a far superior production than the utter mess and mishmash of the terribly unfocused original production. My god it was bad enough watching the original Nadia drag out her cello and sing a self-indulgent song with the farting road sign behind her without having her drag out her cello yet again later in the show for another number. The b...

When will BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S post it's closing notice?

Mar 23, 2013 — 3:45:06 AM

It's grossing $350-$400K a week in previews. With the title and movie recognition I think it's going to run through their sale date which is September 1. Especially considering that the tourists will start hitting NYC in full force soon.

The Big Knife First Preview

Mar 23, 2013 — 3:37:07 AM

Hoping this is so much better than the terribly misguided production of Drood.
