Dolly, I'm sure you're a very nice person, and maybe the show isn't good, but a lot of people put in a lot of time and money and put their hearts into something they desperately wanted to be successful. I presume you don't know any of these people personally. How would you feel if you put your heart into something, and then someone you've never met posts a thread like this? When shows don't do well, it is (it's) not a celebration... that's just my opinion.

Well put PD92 but I've been down that road before on this board... be prepared for the popular argument about how a closing show is a good thing since it gives something else a chance to produce blah blah blah

I agree with you though. Nobody should cheer-on a show flopping and since we depend on generous investors being interested in actually having a hit someday it is not good for the business that so many shows fail to catch on.

I haven't seen this production, nor have I read any of the reviews, but they must be doing something right since it has inspired 6 threads so far, today alone, and some people on here won't stop talking about it. I'd say this won't do so bad after all.

I have a hunch that Broadway Expert is Director Sean Mathias. He keeps touting his own show. Sean.. you will live to direct again. Now accept the fact... they are serving turkey for Breakfast at Tiffany's. And If some of us take some glee in it's failure... it's because the show is so goddamned awful and gives Broadway a bad name.

It's grossing $350-$400K a week in previews. With the title and movie recognition I think it's going to run through their sale date which is September 1. Especially considering that the tourists will start hitting NYC in full force soon.

I think srg129 may be right. I will be a tourist hitting NYC in full force soon, and I already have a ticket to see this (probably on the same day that I go to the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty). In light of the reviews it doesn't bode well. However, I am looking forward to the "soft music".

Did anyone say the WISHED for this to close? No. They are just speculating on when it will.

It (so far) has terrible sales. It has gotten bad reviews. It is UNLIKELY that it will succeed, so people are just discussing what they believe to be the inevitable.

We love good theatre. All of us.
Tiffany's just gives good theatre a bad name.
If I had seen this as my first show, I would have been a football fan.
That's why I want it to go away.
It's abysmal.
I bought a ticket hoping to be enlightened and entertained... instead I
was bored as were the
50 people who walked out at intermission.
Do you really want to have people see a show that disappoints?
Do you really want people to waste their hard on money on name recognition alone?
Call me what you want but I want this dreck gone and fast
Conversely Book of Mormon and Vanya and Spike are so good they should run a long long time. Those shows give Broadway a good name.
