mybigsplas, I just proved that you are a member of Trent's family, and are using your poll to destroy Kiril's popularity and David's artistic reputation. Unfortunately for your, Trent has neither popularity nor artistic reputation.

People, please vote on my poll; I will not manipulate it, and will let you people decide your favorite Original Billy.

rich.hanson59, like I said before, the professional critics of this country and many others have a very different opinion with respect to David Alvarez's talent as an actor/singer. No matter how many times you say it, David Alvarez will make it... very very far....

Billy Wiz, I'm very suprised that YOU have not come to defense David Alvarez's talents. I am so sure that if the same has been said about Trent or Kiril you would have already said something, right? Why? Who pays you?

srg129, I don't thhink that the Billy chosen for the press night, or to perform for Clinton, Biden and Pelosi, whose name is David Alvarez, is a mediocre actor/singer. I bet you can't sing, act, or dance a fourth of what any of these boys can do. If you read the reviews of the critics, you'll realize that David Alvarez has a wonderful and serious career as an actor ahead of him.

BTW, Congratulaions to Billy Elliot the Musical for its 15 nominations.

I also feel bad for Fr

WishingOnlyWounds, is there something beyond amazing? Can you please be more precise on your reviews? Ah..., is it true that Kiril has now a tenor voice? LOL

You didn't keep your word about not comparing David with Kiril; you finally did it! Was it intentional? If so, you play the timid better than Kiril!!!

Oh, last question? Was Kiril shorter than David, as you all were saying?

re: Drama Desk Nominees list?

A total shame the Billys weren't even considered for the Drama Desk Award just for bureaucracy. I just can't believe everyone from Billy is nominated for this award, except the Billys, upon whom the entire shows relies.

Poor boy; what happened to his singing? Does he sing this bad in the show? The dancing was good, but the singing was really......painful

re: 'Best Billy' to see?
 Oct 23 2008, 06:50:52 PM
I have seen the three of them, and altough I can't say which Billy was better, because the three of them are doing a phenomenal job, I felt defetinely more connected with David Alvarez because his emotions are very well defined. It seems to me also that he was the best connected with the rest of the cast.

LotteTBS138:

It's clear you've never been offered something like this, and that you don't enjoy the critic's praise Johnny Depp is enjoying since he's a teen!

"They shot the B-roll footage with David Alvarez, if that says anything."

IT SAYS IT ALL!!!

All I heard is that a big casting office in LA came to see him after they saw him perform, and that the offer is for a lead role in a Hollywood production with Johnny Depp. I presume is a movie..............

If David Alvarez needs more time to get into the role, I can't figure out when the other two will ever be able to play "Billy".

BTW, David Alvarez is the big time favorite for the critic's night.......

And if his voice is cracking (I didn't realize though....), now it explains what I was just told, that David Alvarez has already a big offer in Hollywood.

However, I think they should wait a bit longer, because if David goes, no way the Billys will get the Tony next ye

Please.....
I saw both David Alvarez and Kiril Kulish. Kiril is good, but you must see David Alvarez; he lives teh character. Kulish's Billy is empty of emotions. Alvarez's Billy will make you laugh, cry, and jump off your seat. Don't believe me? Ask the rest of cast, even better, ask Stephen Daldry!!!
Just with his emotions, he totally broke all the stereotypes.
I also saw the dress rehearsal of both of them. The reaction of the invitees to Alvarez's was much stronger than that to K

Hi Ed_Mottershead: I was also there yesterday afternoon and saw David Alvarez; like you said, he danced up a storm. Also, his acting was incredible, and so was the reaction of the audience, many of which stood up and gave him a big ovation even before the last scene (when Billy says good-bye to his mom and walks up the aisle) ended. Alvarez brought the house into tears. I heard that during his dress rehearsal, the house stood-up and gave him a big ovation after his "Electricity"

I saw the show this afternoon as well with David Alvarez. This kid is known as a ballet dancer since he studies ballet at the American Ballet Theater, but nobody can imagine what a great actor he is. The final scene says it all!!! David Alvarez reminded me of the children of "Forbidden Games" and the boy of "The 400 Blows", movies of the 1960's with exceptional performance by children. You can tell that he has been directed by someone like Stephen Daldry. No doubt he could have a long career not
