Announced replacements that never happened

Valerie Cherish in "Chicago"

OH, MARY (West End Replacements)

Saw this last week in the UK.

Catherine was great and so funny in the role. I loved her growly voice at times. There were a couple of moments that I missed when I've seen other Mary's in the role, but overall a very fun evening.

One thing to note... Dino Fetscher in those pants. Holy cow, seeing that was worth the admission.

Jinkx Monsoon to play Judy Garland in END OF THE RAINBOW in London

I caught the show last week and enjoyed it quite a bit.

In regards to the costumes, I can't say I noticed that they weren't replicas of Judy Garland's wardrobe, but I suppose if that is a production element that excites you, then I understand the disappointment.

My thoughts:

- Jinkx is wonderful in this, the evening I saw it, there were some vocal problems, at first I thought maybe the voice cracks during the songs were a choice, then in the second act d

Injuries at the Gershwin?

Between this and the fire at Eugene O'neill theater... what is happening?!

I wish she did. Even if she did a short stint and maybe not doing all 8 shows a week.

Also it's my last day of high school forever, I graduateFriday. Just wanted to share that with you lovely folks.

Back to watching bootlegs now, tata.
"

Congrats on graduating!!! Seeing both Maya and Megan in "Oh, Mary!" is the PERFECT way to celebrate your achievement!!

I would love to see Paul W. Downs as either Mary's Husband or Mary's Teacher.

Very Early 2026 Tony Winner Predictions

Ewwww. I hate when people use that passive aggressive "Hope that helps clarify for you"

Your reasoning that they're less worthy simply for being adaptationsisstupid. Maybe literacy isn't your strong s

Meryl Streep considering return to Broadway with Martin Short

Looks like we were typing at the same time, I'd like to think "great minds think alike!" :)

That's why I hesitated suggesting it, myself. I just hope it's a show where they both can just go at each other, I know Martin Short is a comedic actor, but I have a feeling he can hold his own in a serious/dramatic role.

This was the first show I thought of as well, especially since I wasn’t able to see the short lived Laurie Metcalf version.

Yes, although Cole never missed a performance during the Lortel run. Also, I believe Jinkx and Jane never called out, though they each missed a small number of performances due to pre-scheduled absences.
"

Jane did call out the day I saw her in October. If they were scheduled, they were not announced.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/3/26

It feels weird living in a world where "Death Becomes Her" made about a third of what CHICAGO grossed in a week.

That ain't great...

Lindsay Mendez won a Tony Award for the revival of CAROUSEL years after playing Elphaba on Broadway.
"

Welp I didn't do my research, haha! Maybe there is no "curse" per se. The Beaches trajectory is just giving me major Lempicka flashbacks.

Oooh fair, and she was good in it. I didn't see the final product, but caught the show in Chicago and didn't think it was capable of saving. I know they did drastic rewrites, but ultimately that show came and went pretty quickly. Still glad she got praise for it.

BEACHES Previews

It feels like there is a curse on former Elphaba's originating a show.

Idina Menzel - Redwood

Edina Espinosa - Lempicka

and now Jessica Vosk - Beaches

Any other former Elphie's to add to the list?

Full Monty revival casting wishes

Wouldn't mind seeing Max Clayton do a lil striptease....

Paddington at the Al Hirschfeld

Slightly off topic. But I'll be in London in May. The date I was hoping to see this looks like it's sold out. What are the chances I'll be able to find a ticket somehow? Wasn't sure if West End does something where tickets may be available somehow? Whether it's rush or lottery?
