LYSISTRATA JONES Reviews

StageZine.com (for what it is worth) is a rave...

Promises, Promises Rush

Has anyone done the rush for "Promises, Promises" recently?!

How early should one get in line outside the theater if the box office opens at 10am?

8am??

Thanks

Blind Date at Ars Nova

Does anyone know anything about this new show Blind Date at Ars Nova? It sounds hilarious and I really want to see it, but it's sold out this week. I know it's something about the woman pulling a guy onstage and going on a blind date with him - does anyone know anything more?
Why are some shows only running 7 performances a week?

Pacino didn't want to do 8 (originally he only wanted to do 6)
Power Balladz?

To answer the original poster's question, Power Balladz just announced a student rush on their Facebook page. These are the details as stated there:

Power Balladz- Student Rush
Available one hour before curtain
$25.00 Cash only
Limit 2 tickets per student ID

WICKED in 'No H8' campaign??

This is such a great concept. Good to see Wicked embracing it.
Next Shows to Close?

Is predicting another pre-opening closing of Spider-man too snarky? If not, it's a really tempting wager.
Power Balladz?

Vespertine,

The straightest and easiest answer relates to their formats.

Rock of Ages is a more traditional (only by comparison with Power Balladz (edit: by this I mean it's still a musical with scenes and acts, but it eschews the fourth wall many times, unlike most musicals)) musical with a large ensemble cast and a few storylines going from point A to point B with some of the greatest music of the glam rock era ushering it along.

Power Balladz is a barebones pr

Power Balladz?

"I didn't refer to it in my post, and in fact I don't think I've ever even mentioned that show before on Broadway World."

My apologies, I think your comment became colored by magicalbroadwayfarts in my mind and I lumped the two together.

"Clearly YOU have some kind of connection with Power Balladz to bother to defend it."

Oh good, the "I know you are but what am I" defense. We're in mature company here. The fact is I have seen both (and yes, with only a 5-person band P

Power Balladz?

Wow, there seems to be lots of unjustified anger. Methinks Cape Twirl and MagicalBroadwayFart are ROA-tards (if not involved with the show itself)? Yeah, Power Balladz doesn't have a plot, but it's more about the musical performances than Rock of Ages. If you want something more akin to a permanent rock concert (with great vocals and even better instrumentation) than a Broadway show - then Power Balladz is exactly what you want. Otherwise go blow $60 on the same songs in a storyline. Honestly, t
Where are you watching the Tony's?

It's actually not that expensive! I think it's like $25 which includes unlimited food and drinks, so it sounds pretty worth it to me! I will definitely be there...plus I am a huge HAIR fan, so meeting Annaleigh Ashford and Kyle Riabko is enough for me!
Ken Davenport is giving away another IPad...

He must have a closet full of them! Everytime he has a contest on his blog you win a free iPod or an iPad!

If you can guess all the winners for the Tony Awards you win a free iPad... anyone giving this a try?

The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity

SCREECH in TKTS line!?

I seriously just saw Dustin Diamond, Screech from Saved by the Bell, in the TKTS line! WHAT!? I was a huge Saved by the Bell fan so this completely caught me off gaurd. Anyway, I HAVE to see him in the Awesome 80's prom now. Anyone else going?

The Addams Family - Wednesday Braids?!

LOL... oh boy....
The Addams Family - Wednesday Braids?!

OK. So I saw "The Addams Family" in previews before it opened and Krysta Rodriguez (Wednesday) never had braids during the show. She started the show with her new short hair and they (the family, etc.) never mentioned it.

There is a video up on Broadway.com (Spotlight on The Addams Family) and you can clearly see Wednesday with Braids in the opening number and in the scene when she is asking her family to be normal.

Did they add her braids in for the show? When does she

Hilarious Showtune YouTube Performances

"By the way, if that is actually MissBroadwayDork singing, she really does have a good voice."

Yes! She really does have an amazing voice!

Broadway Actors Voice-over Work for Animated Films

Hey guys, I'm trying to come up with a list of Broadway actors/actresses who have done voice-over work for animated films.

For example: Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in "The Lion King" and Anika Noni Rose in "The Princess and the Frog."

I know there must be more...

Backstage Videos

BroadwaySpace.com has a new backstage video up with Leigh Ann Larkin from ALNM (link below).

I really love when the Broadway websites post these backstage videos. I LOVED the behind the scenes with the stage manager of WICKED Broadway World had a few months ago and Kyle Dean Massey's blog is one of my favorites.

Anyone else have any favorite backstage videos?
