What's a fantasy anyway?

Mar 28, 2018 — 8:07:18 PM

I quite liked the ending after being so emotionally invested/exhausted for 8 hrs. Also someone mentioned that Harper, Joe, and Louis don't have HIV/AIDS... I left thinking that that was sort of up to the viewer to decide. I would think that least some of them have it although it's not said outright. That might be the medical professional in me but I also see it as it was so taboo to talk about or acknowledge plus people weren't educated enough or didn't want to believe it, so it ended up affe...

Sara Barellis out 2/15... will she be on tonight?

Feb 16, 2018 — 1:35:55 PM

I was there last night after checking Sara's social media all day. She performed Act 1 and had I not known she was sick beforehand I wouldn't have noticed besides a few slightly airy/off notes. I was actually super impressed by her vocal control and it seemed like she was going to power through the show. At intermission it was announced that Stephanie was going on (2 Jenna's for the price of 1 ow oww!) and she was great. Her She Used to Be Mine was one of the best I've seen. Like someone else...

Shows you loved the first time, but disliked the second time

Jan 17, 2018 — 11:15:12 AM

Dear Evan HansenLoved it the first time I saw it. I laughed, I cried, I was in love with the music. I felt so unfulfilled after I saw it again 5 months later. Same cast each time w/ no replacements. I just felt like there wasn't anything terribly special about it besides Ben Platt's performance.

Best understudy you've ever seen?

Jan 16, 2018 — 4:27:32 PM

I saw Carmen Cusack as an understudy for Elphaba in the Wicked national tour... amazing. The CFA understudies are amazing and get gold stars for covering multiple tracks.Alie Ewoldt and Kelvin Moon Loh for Tuptim and Lun Tha in the King and I.

METEOR SHOWER Previews

Nov 21, 2017 — 2:35:24 PM

At 7:30 last night, there were mezzanine seats for $15 and orchestra seats for $38 on StubHub. I would just keep an eye on the prices during the day. Get to the Times Square area early that way when you buy them you can pick them up and head right to the theater.

Has anyone seen a Broadway musical over 100 times?

Nov 17, 2017 — 8:36:42 AM

The most I've seen a show is Come From Away 10 times followed by The King and I 6 times. I've seen a bunch of shows 2 times and there are many I wish I had been able to see multiple times. My theory is, if it makes you happy then who cares?! I believe there's a girl who has seen Come From Away over 100 times which, if I did my math correctly, is about 12 times a month since the first preview, which is about 2-3x a week!

Actress Merle Dandridge -Once on This Island

Nov 11, 2017 — 7:44:15 PM

Here to say Merle is great in Once On This Island! Had never seen her in anything else before but left going "who was that woman?!" And a bonus, she entered and exited the stage right by me and my friend multiple times and she also sat/stood there so we got to hear her voice up close.

Come From Away Rush on Saturday

Oct 30, 2017 — 9:16:49 PM

Maybe something changed or she was new. That is what she told me and the people in front of me. However, now that I think about it, when I got inside after purchasing on stubhub it did seem like there were more than ten people standing. I think there was one person standing behind each seat in the last row of the center orchestra. So however many seats are in a center orchestra row, that is how many standing room I would say there were. I felt sorry for the person who was standing behind the ...

Technichal Mess-Ups

Oct 30, 2017 — 8:23:30 PM

I saw a preview performance of Misery a few years ago and at one point, the main house set stopped rotating. The rotation was pretty integral in allowing Bruce Willis to move about the stage so they just put the curtain down for 5-10 mins before they had it up and running again.

Come From Away Rush on Saturday

Oct 30, 2017 — 8:17:46 PM

10 standing room seems like way less than normal? Something must have changed because I've rushed it 3 times and each time it's been about 20 standing room spots. I would double check that number just to be safe :)

THE BAND'S VISIT Previews

Oct 30, 2017 — 8:13:42 PM

I was really hoping The Band's Visit would be the Come From Away of this season for me (didn't know much about the CFA but came out loving it and have seen it multiple times). I was so sad that I didn't like The Band's Visit. I thought Katrina Lenk, Tony Shalhoub, and Ari'el Stachel were great but other than that I found the story so boring and the music unforgettable. The best part for me was the band that played on stage, they were incredible! But other than that, the story moved so slow fo...

Falsettos PBS Broadcast

Oct 30, 2017 — 8:08:26 PM

I didn't love Falsettos the first time I saw it. Granted, I had just found out I needed glasses and everyone was pretty blurry from the rear mezz... I appreciated the performances, the music, the story... but something just didn't click for me initially. When I watched the PBS Broadcast I found myself enjoying the show much more than I did when I saw it in person. I think being able to see the cast up close really changed the game for me. Then again, I didn't see it a ton of times to notice a...

BCEFA FLEA MARKET COLLECTORS UNITE!!

Sep 24, 2017 — 6:13:01 PM

I totally understand the frustration with the set-up and people. I got there around 9:30 and had about 15 mins of uninterrupted browsing and then all of a sudden it was crazy. The lines for DEH and Comet were ridiculous. People were in them for hours. I didn't spend more than $15 on anything. It's quite a cluster-fluff but you have to be willing to be aggressive to get to where you need/want to be. You also need to be willing to dig through boxes of crap because that's where the gems are y'al...

Is there any trick to getting AudienceRewards tickets?

Aug 16, 2017 — 10:53:39 PM

I always thought Audience Rewards was a bit of a hoax. Before I lived in the city I bought all of my tickets online. I, too, had no idea I had been accruing enough points. I checked one day this past November and had enough points to get a free ticket to Dear Evan Hansen in early December. I've also gotten a free ticket to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (didn't want to pay any money to see that) and a $30 orchestra seat for The Play that Goes Wrong.

Any scheduled vacations for Come From Away?

Aug 15, 2017 — 6:59:49 PM

I saw De'Lon August 5th, the second day he was on, and he was absolutely wonderful! I really loved the way he delivered his lines. I noticed with Rodney and Josh (who I thought were great too), that some of the jokes would fall flat with the audience. De'Lon got every one of his jokes to hit. I also loved that you could tell that the cast was loving his performance. It was obvious that they were so excited for him.

The kids

Aug 15, 2017 — 9:46:52 AM

1) I could be considered a "kid" and I love all of those classics. I asked for the Rogers and Hammerstein DVD box set (South Pacific, The King and I, Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma, State Fair) for my 9th birthday and I would watch them over and over again. I still consider them to be my some of my favorites. I also had Oliver and My Fair Lady on continuous loan from my local library. I, for one, am psyched for this upcoming season because of the return of a few of these!2) I'm all about ...

Bad Theater Behavior

Aug 9, 2017 — 11:48:59 PM

Another thing I just remembered about bathrooms:The Golden only has one women's bathroom and A Doll's House has no intermission. So, the line for the women's restroom was more ridiculous that usual... The security guard came downstairs and had the women use the stalls in the men's bathroom while the men used the urinals. No one seemed to mind but it was quite the interesting solution!
