is it possible that they may have just cancelled the whole CD coming out?...
Lizzie-
Thank you for a much needed laugh tonight...
I really hope they get this CD out. Not that this show was anything incredible, but possibly the only thing worse (pertaining to cast recordings, not the grand scheme of life, mind you) than not recording a score is recording it and not releasing it.
Yes, H.Higgins, what is commonly known as "The Capeman Curse"...
Well, I'm sure in about five or six years, everyone will have iTunes connectivity in their cars and TVs, and Elton John's theatrical glory can be shared with all.
I just want Carolee's Crimson Kiss and I'll be a happy boy...
Carolee's voice gives me crazy good chills!
Ah, "The Capeman Curse" =) Yeah, it's just such a waste to go to the expense of recording a piece and then not releasing it (I realize that the production of the album copies is another huge financial endeavor, but if you're going to go into the studio and record it in the first place, come ON!). While I would prefer a full-blown release with album art and liner notes, I am happy that the songs can at least be heard and enjoyed through the Itunes release.
I didn't see Lestat, but would certainly purchase the cast album and am hoping it sees the light of day. I definitely want to hear Carolee's material and from the clips I saw, "I Want More" seems like a winner.
Max Preeo of the Cast Album group (and editor of SHOW MUSIC magazine) reports today that the CD is "on hold." I know some places are taking pre-orders for it but if the label elects not to release it those pre-orders will be cancelled.
It has not been oficially cancelled as yet, but don't get your hopes up.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

According to Carolee (as of a week ago), the CD will still be released, but things change... so I don't know (I hope it will be though).
If it doesn't get released then I am going to be pissed.
