but isn't the whole point going back to the start of this thread? how do we know that these illnesses/surgeries are really taking place? how do you know that everyone who says "we'll pray for you" is really doing it?
I think just as many "prayer requests" are fake as are the Munchausen by Internets cases.

Chevstriss, I agree with what you said in your two posts.
Now, when Yenta said, "I think the prayer requests are a good thing as long as they don't go too far...," well, that's a totally subjective line to cross. IN MY OPINION, they have gone way too far.
And frankly, the miracle cure that happened in a recent thread was the straw that broke my camel's back. And he was a two humped camel, so he could take a lot.
Why can't we all just agree to add to our evening prayers, whatever they may be and to whatever entity or entity to whom we pray, that we will pray for all who are suffering in any way?
Wouldn't that cover it?
I don't think it would, because what a HUGE percentage of these threads are about, is the attention they generate.
And it was St. Theresa who said, "There are more tears shed over answered prayers than over unanswered prayers."
Ugarte, you are killing me! Incidentally, how do we know you're not GIVING your dog Creeping Cummerbund? Huh?? We're wise to you...repeatedly taking him to the vet...putting God-knows-what in his kibble...
As much as I want to believe you, Guillermo, I have it on good authority that Daschel's diet consists of "kibble and...". What follows the "and" is obscure; however, my sources tell me that it involves half the laxative aisle at Duane Reade. We won't even get into what CVS has on ITS survellience tape.
That poor dog. I'm lighting a candle for him. And maybe, if I'm feeling particularly charitable, I'll light one just for your soul.
BoxFive: Your efforts with Canines In Crisis must have paid off. Guillermo seems to have disappeared. I hope Daschel is now in the loving hands of a foster home awaiting adoption and that Guillermo and his fiendish cathartics are safely behind bars.
They buried the Karl Rove story and now it would seem they also tried to bury poor Daschel(both literally and figuratively), but they won't get away with it this time!!
And on an munchausen related note, a slightly crazed women here at the office has just taken off 8 weeks mental health leave because of..yes, you guessed it..she has to cope with a mystery relative's mystery ailment.
I hope her last name isn't UGARTE!

Oh, I don't know why, but it just seemed like it might be a good time around here to bring back this thread! YAY!
