....the $101.25 top ticket mark. The top price for every performance is now $111.25.
Discuss. This is the future of theater. Thank heavens for rush/SRO.

Uhm... forgive me if I'm behind... but aren't those $111.00 tickets only for the holiday season? When I was at Spamalot back in June, they had something on the box office list about price increases for the week of Christmas and New Year's. They figure they can get away with it since the city is STUFFED with tourists at those points. Everyone and their brother will want tickets to a Broadway show at that time...
If this IS true, though... does this mean they're kicking up the holiday prices ANOTHER $10 to $120 for the holidays?

... remembering the sign a little more now... Maybe the sign said the new prices would be going in to effect STARTING with the holiday season...
Mmm. Weird. And frustrating. But I guess the marketing mentality is, "Heck, these people are already willing to pay $100 for seats. What's 10 more dollars?" Of course, WE know the answer is, "Well... my cab fee... or maybe a quick DINNER..."

I would never ever pay that much to see Spamalot. I still feel like my SRO ticket was too much money. Not worth it at all in my opinion.

Posted: 10/5/05 at 5:54pmyeah, last I was at the theatre it said that price and the rest of the new price list STARTED this holiday season, but not limited too. if the rest of the shows follow suit i'll have to find another passion or a very very weathly millionaire lover!

That made me laugh (and agree)...it's not that I don't like Spamalot, it's just that I'm so very bitter that it has been so much more successful (box office AND awards) then three shows that I fould ALL far superior. **grumbles**

Am I the only one who liked Spamalot?
But yes, it is an insane amount of money. Just because a show is popular doesn't mean they should up the price. Greedy bastards.

Posted: 10/5/05 at 6:56pmJesus Christ, most of you aren't even going to see Spamalot, so why complain about the prices? Yeah, they're high. The Producers used to offer tickets for more than $400 a pop. Believe me, there's plenty of tourists willing to pay that much, if you aren't.

EponineThenardier, you are NOT the only one who liked Spamalot (I'm a tad obsessed!) And I paid the old price for my ticket in February, so I'm not bent out of shape about it---yet! I could have worse obsessions!

Posted: 10/5/05 at 7:33pmId see Spamalot because of the talent in that show. But alas, I am a poor college Student, and they dont have cool Student discounts like Rent does. Heh, maybe thats why young people like Rent. Its cheaper to see.

Have you looked at the prices for sporting events and rock concerts? ($450 for the Rolling Stones)
Have you checked the cost of a round of golf at a decent course?

If people want to see it this bad, then they will pay the extra ten dollars.
I guess we'll see in the future! ... if you bought you're ticket in advance for a show well into next year, then I guess consider yourselves lucky! [You just saved $10 per ticket]
Wait: Isn't Spamalot sold out anyway? How can they raise prices if their tickets are already sold?

Check the broadway grosses on this site and look at each show by top ticket price. You'll see that SPAMALOT'S actual top ticket price last week was $301.25
Now that's what I call a PREMIUM SEAT! I wouldn't spend $30 to see it but who am I?
To each their own!
Here I've provided a link:
