Aw, best night.
I think he looks a lot happier with Barbara than he does with Harvey.
Ok, so I never knew Raul was in that "I Love NY commercial" from 2001 but I do totally remember it being on after 9/11. I just found it on youtube and I thought I'd play "Where's Waldo?":

I miss Where's Waldo?.
So I saw Sweeney on tour last night, and I hadn't realized Keith Buterbaugh (sp?) was in it. That was fun! I was hoping he'd be doing the BC/EFA collecting so I could tell him how much I enjoyed Company, but he didn't.
Raul looks adorable in the Harvey picture. Such fluffiness.
At the opening of Cry-Baby last night, Elizabeth Stanely talked to Playbill about the workshop for "Leap of Faith" that's she's also participating in:
"Cry-Baby is not the only show that is occupying Stanley these days. She has the female lead in the Broadway musicalization of Steve Martin's 1992 traveling-evangelist movie, "Leap of Faith," which director Taylor Hackford is readying for workshop. "It's a lovely cast — Raul Esparza, Lillias White, Terrence Mann — and it's a huge cast. There's 30-plus ensemble people. Eric Christian from our cast is also in it. They've been very generous in giving me the last few days off to focus on this opening, which is nice. The workshop is a couple of weeks away, and I'm glad for that. It's been very hectic. You rehearse the workshop all day. I have rehearsal at 10 AM tomorrow —10 until 6, usually with a lunch break. It makes for long days, but I should be so lucky to be working on two projects at once."
PLAYBILL ON OPENING NIGHT - Cry-Baby
Awww. I hope she stays with it. I would love to see them together on stage again.
You just want them to have more lip-smacking kisses.
Terrence Mann is in it? I totally made the mental leap to imagining Raul dressed up as Rum Tum Tugger.

I just had a pre- Barcelona flashback.
*ponders*
I don't think "lip-smacking" even covers it.
Hah, Cats.

I'm going to hold my tongue on that. No pun intended.
"Raul dressed up as Rum Tum Tugger"
Serious photoshop potential.
No pun intended.
Shut up.
You guys. It finaly happened.
Raul came into my Starbucks.
I was totally not paying attention at he front register, looked up and BAM. There he is ordering a tall vanilla latte from me.
"Um sure.... by the way, can I be a total dork for a second and tell you I'm a huge fan?"
"Oh sure, thank you, that's so sweet of you, you're very kind."
He mentioned that my store used to be their Starbucks during Company (its on the same block) and they hadn't been back since then. I mentioned that I started working there right after it had closed.
"I've been waiting for you to come to this store, man!"
He laughed and was incredibly sweet. He was with Elizabeth Stanley, and I feel like an idiot because I didn't say anything to her, I was so flabbergasted. I made his drink and called it, and he didn't hear it. I was tempted to call him by name but instead just caught his eye across the store and waved him over. They sat for about half hour as I an to the back room calling and texting everyone who may have cared.
Okay, dorky Raul-fan story out of the way
Aww!
Right?
I could not pay attention to anything or anyone as long as they sat there. I ran into the back room and started freaking out to my asst store manager, thank goodness she's cool
PS, I didn't know that was the Starbucks you work at! I'm there a lot. I mean, moreso when Company was running because it was the rush line Starbucks, but whatever.
Ahhh, how exciting!! Did you ask about Leap at all? Was he wearing a cowboy hat?
He should start walking around in the jacket made of mirrors.
lol guys it was all I could do to remember his order.
Em, I'm there practically every night to close except Wed's, come say hi! That goes for anyone in NYC. All my friends get free drinks. Cuz you know, I got the power :-P
Ha, I'm so there tomorrow!!

That is so so cool! I would have flipped out too, and probably spilled like, everything behind the counter.
ETA: I can't remember if this was mentioned earlier, but The Homecoming has been nominated for best ensemble performance. Where was that category last season..? Although it does mean that the actors/actresses aren't eligible for individual awards in their own category, so it's a toss up. But congrats to the cast!
In the Heights got it last year.
So how does that work? Does the nominating committee choose the ensemble nominees first so that they know they can't nominate the actors for any other awards? Or the other way round where they have nominated Conleth Hill as best featured actor thus they can't nominate THE SEAFARER for best ensemble?
