Hi everyone. Earlier this year Broadway news sites (like BWW and Playbill) announced that Now. Here. This. and the original 2012 York Theatre cast of Closer Than Ever will be getting a cast album. I remember reading that both of these albums have been recorded, but i've never seen any release dates. Have there been any announcements about when they will be released?
Now, Here, This - December 18th

Closer Than Ever- Is on Jay Records so don't expect it to come out anytime soon. Their turnaround is quite lengthy. They gave One Touch of Venus a December release date and we're still waiting for an exact date...
Closer Than Ever - April 14th 2033.

Alright. Thanks for the info on Now. Here. This though!
On the link above there is a 42 minute "making of" documentary from the recording session for Now. Hear. This. Ms. Heidi Blickenstaff nails the song "This Time" (at minute 34) with power, emotion, and grace. Wow, can she sing!!!!

Anybody know anything about the release of Closer Than Ever? It's killing me inside that it hasn't been released.

Same here. The only thing I heard was a LONG time ago when they said that they would try to get the Closer Than Ever album out "before the end of 2012." It's April 14, 2013, and still nothing.
If it's on Jay, it's possible we may never see it released.
According to tazber I think you've got exactly 20 more years to wait.

Ugh. I think there should be some sort of petition saying "We're done playing games. Give us the album and no one gets hurt." I think it would work.

"This title will be released on June 11, 2013" According to Amazon!! Quite a price though...
Thanks for the info! Can't wait to hear it! I didn't get to see Christiane or Jenn in their roles, so it'll be great to at least hear them.
And I realize this is probably a double-disc album, but yeah that's a hefty price.

I'm so glad there's finally a release date!! So excited for the new Closer Than Ever album!
Can't wait to have the piano/bass orchestration on recording. And the new songs too.

I am SO excited for the piano/bass. I'm just excited for the entire album though. Hopefully it's good quality.
I FOUND SAMPLES TOO:

"Miss Byrd" was mainly the song I'd been waiting for so good ups on that.
I love Miss Byrd with only piano and bass. Sounds great!
Am I correct in observing that both shows have songs titled "This Time"?
Closer Than Ever has a song called "Next Time."
"Am I correct in observing that both shows have songs titled "This Time"?"
You are incorrect in that. But Heidi does sing a song called "This Time" on a Scott Alan album.
I do wonder why we need another 2 disc CLOSER THAN EVER - with a little trimming it could have fit onto a single disc.
What to cut would pose a problem because every song is a real gem.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Well, the new recording features three songs not on the original recording and also the original piano/bass orchestration. I'd say a recording with that combo is long overdue!

Well, according to Amazon, the new Closer Than Ever album is supposed to come out tomorrow!!
How do Colella, Dvorsky, Noll, and Viviano sound on the recording? The night I saw the show, they all seemed rather old and tired, protecting their voices throughout the evening. I was very disappointed, particularly having loved the original so much - but then, the original foursome were so much younger than the current cast.

I've heard the album and it's divine! The four sound wonderful, especially Jenn Colella.
