Outdoor concert with Darren Criss, Lea Salonga, Aaron Tveit, and Leslie Odom, Jr. Interesting concept...wonder if it'll catch on.
I'm curious enough to give it a shot.
Edit:
Damn it! I'll be in LA that weekend! Well, hope to read about it from you all!

Thread title is very fitting because there is this quote by Darren Criss about it. ^_^
"I was at Coachella [the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in southern California] and thought ‘let’s do this for show tunes. Musical theater has been going through a wonderful shift in the past few years, from the type of work that’s being produced to the way it’s being consumed by the public. It’s more than showtunes on Broadway–it’s songs from film, TV and YouTube. Since the rules were already changing, I figured, why not shake up people’s ideas of where to watch the performers they love. Enter Elsie."
—Darren Criss on Elsie Fest (Playbill.com)
This is the same day as the flea market, which is my favorite day of the year, so I don't think I'll be going, but it sounds interesting and maybe will drop by next year.

Since it runs 2:00 to 9:00 it wouldn't be difficult to do both.

I'd think 7/27 was picked so people could do both in the same day.

It may be difficult to get a good spot in a general admission crowd after going to the Flea Market first. I would love to do both though

I love this concept so much and I'm super into the lineup. I'll definitely be going!
This is pretty cool. Jordan Roth was involved, so you know it is going to be pretty damn good.

This is sounding even better and better with every new tidbit I read about it! They're apparently not done with the lineup yet and I can't wait to see who else is added!

This is amazing! I just wish it was on Broadway Flea Market Day. I may just have to go to both. LOL

Since part of the Elsie proceeds are also going to BCEFA, I'm kind of assuming that they purposely scheduled it for that date so people could make a day of it.

Now that Rebecca Naomi Jones will be free all day Sunday, I'd love to see her added to the lineup. She has such a phenomenal voice and would be perfect for this.

Yes, please. Since Darren Criss is a producer on this he could get her if she has nothing else until then.
I live in Philly and I fear I will be trapped in the city that weekend for the Popeacolypse. I wish I could attend this, badly. It's going to be amazing.
Did I miss who is Elsie? Do they share four sordid rooms in Chelsea?
Sorry, I'm too old, tired and broke to do both this and the Flea Market in one day. And I've already mentally committed to the Flea Market.
Elsie is on Goldstar for $29

Decided to post in the original thread . . . I think next year, it may be better if they schedule Elsie Fest on a different day than Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market (although I understand how some people may prefer for both events to happen on one day, so that they could make a day of it). It's hard to please everyone. For this year, it seems the main issue is how many goods from the Flea Market you will have. If you have a few small items, Elsie Fest later in the day seems very do-able.
Wish I could go (am on the West coast). If I was in the area, being a big fan of Lea Salonga, I would lug my stuff to Elsie Fest to see her alone. The rest of the Elsie Fest line-up are wonderful too (Laura Osnes, Leslie Odom, Jr., Aaron Tveit, Darren Criss, etc.), but Lea would be the main attraction for me. There seems to be a few of the $29 discounted tickets still available on the goldstar.com site. Hopefully, more discounted tickets will become available on more Broadway-related sites this last week before the music festival.

I give them credit for trying something like this, however it seems that the musical theatre format screams for a more intimate setting, aka it's not really the rock/pop/country vibe of milling around. However if it financially works I'm not going to disparage something that lets people see even more BW stars and exposes show tunes to more people.

does anyone know if there's a schedule for the different acts/performers posted anywhere?
I've yet to see a schedule posted and very little about performances, other then what the website states (performances are 30 minutes and the event will be over by 10:00pm).
I'd try tweeting Jordan Roth. He's very good about responding to questions about times, dates, etc about the productions he's behind.
