Another "Chicago" casting change. The newest "Roxie" understudy is Anne Horak. Apparently, Dylis Croman Minter is no longer with the show. She was awesomely talented. from RC in Austin,Texas

Also, they have a benefit show at 54 Below on Saturday evening. Those Chicago folks are going to be extremely busy (and tired) wth two shows and an evening benefit event. This lady would make a fantastic "Velma" on Broadway. She is Anna Jane Casey. This video is from 2010. She sings, dances, taps, etc.

Posted: 7/23/13 at 11:49pmBoth Amy Spanger (Roxie) and Amra Faye Wright (Velma) are slated to end their current lengthy run in "Chicago" on August 11th. It would be wonderful to have Bianca Marroquin once again in Chicago. For Roxie, my favorite Velma is Terra C MacLeod. Amra is obviously a very talented person....but it's high time that "Chicago" allow other equally talented ladies to work the role of Velma.

I'd like to comment a bit about the "Chicago" advertising. The newest adverstising style now includes a white background and the particular female performer. It does look rather nice. My criticism of the overall pictorial promotions for "Chicago" is that the adverstising totally ignores the Men of "Chicago". I believe that a significant portion of the "Chicago" fan base is comprised of gay men and straight women. Both groups, I think, would appreciate having a male presence in the "Chicago" advertising. You hardly see any "Chicago" guys in those huge displays in Times Square. The "Chicago" experience, I feel, is embodied in both the ladies and men who perform in the show. I feel that the producers are a bit out of touch in this regard. I even sent a Facebook message to Barry Weissler and mentioned my criticism. Needless to say, there was no response. Posted: 7/31/13 at 7:24pmI've seen Chicago once on broadway and once outside of New York. It's one of my favourite shows ever. But while I love the obc soundtrack I have to mention the Chicago movie. In my opinion, at least singing wise, it's better than the obc soundtrack. I love the movie so much that I've seen it 8 times. Now usually I find movie versions of musicals inferior, but in this case I think that it is extremely well done. If there are Ny Theater purists who have refused to watch the movie adaptation, Do yourself a favour and watch it and listen to the soundtrack. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Posted: 7/31/13 at 8:20pmI'm on the opposite. I think the vocals in the OBC (revival) are superior to the voices in the movie version. In the obcr, you have trained professional singers. In the movie version, you have pretty good actors, but not really professional singers for the most part. Renee Zellweiger and Richard Gere did the best they could. The actor who played Amos sang basically adequately. I do hope that there's a new Broadway recording when "Chicago" celebrates its 20th year on the Great White Way (keeping fingers crossed for that). In the meantime, I'm thrilled that the 2013-2014 national tour will be making two stops in Texas: Houston and Austin. In Austin, the venue will be the University of Texas at Austin Bass Concert Hall. This theatre has a huuumongous orchestra pit. Close to the end of the show, Roxie and Velma throw a few roses at the audience. They'll have to use a cannon to get those flowers across the pit to the orchestra audience. I can't wait. from RC in Austin, Texas

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

Ryan Silverman is set to join the company of "Chicago" as the newest Billy Flynn. He is on from August 30th--- October 26th. Also, Bianca Marroquin returns as Roxie once more, taking over from Paige Davis (who leaves on Aug. 28th to take part in the national tour). Great news all around!
