Hands down, no question......
Betty Buckley in CARRIE
I've never seen anyone throw themselves so completely into a performance in my life. Say what you will about the show, but her take on Margaret was legendary
Te8re phan (love your avatar, btw), those clips on YouTube are quite literally breathtaking. I can't begin to imagine that performance in person.

Without the need for a moment to think - Betty Buckley in "Sunset Boulevard". Yes, there can be debate over who was the better "Norma", Glenn Close or Betty, but vocally, there IS no debate. I was lucky enough to have a front row center seat for Betty's performance. At the end of "As If We Never Said Goodbye", she came to the very lip of the stage, belting that powerful song, in complete control of her instrument, and every hair on my body, well.........except for CERTAIN ones of course, stood on end. Without doubt the most ELECTRIC moment in my 20 years of coming to New York to see the shows.
I'm gonna have to go with Alice Ripley in Next To Normal. A tough role, acted with honesty and passion.
