I think that Lewis Grosso has something else lined up, too. He was cast in the new TV show "Made in Jersey," but I don't know if he's a regular cast member or what (side note: Donna Murphy is in the show also!) In any event, his final show is Sunday at 3 pm, so I don't know why last week was his last SIP. Weird.
I think the key thing to remember is that the original run was until June 10. Granted, the extension to August 19 happened very quickly, but the announcement that it would be open-ended was not quite as fast. So of course the cast members were going to be auditioning for roles and seeking employment after the term. I doubt they would leave without having a reason-- because who wants to be unemployed and go without a salary?!
The Guzman twins thing was so confusing because I had heard about them joining the cast awhile ago (but only their names) and thought that, somehow, only one was brought into the cast. In actuality, it was Julian DeGUZMAN, a swing. This will be David and Jacob GUZMAN. kind of confusing.
Anyone else find it odd that people keep leaving mid-week instead of on Sundays like most Broadway performers? Also, I wish Disney would keep up with the cast info.

Everyone remember that it was a limited run so I'm sure some of the performers had other jobs lined up just incase it didn't get an open ended run. Matthew and Lewis probably out grew the part though considering the show has been open for about 6 months now and most children's roles on broadway get cycled out about every 6 months or so.
Confirmed Cast Updates (per the -finally-updated "Newsies" website)
Medda Larkin (formerly Capathia Jenkins): LaVon Fisher-Wilson
Les: Nicholas Lampiasi/ Jake Lucas
Mush (formerly Ephriam Sykes): David Guzman
Sniper (formerly Alex Wong/ JP Ferreri): Jacob Guzman
additional swing: Julian DeGuzman
broadwayshowfan - I know with RENT off-Broadway, the reason people left mid-week was because that was how the pay cycle went, so they'd leave on a Thursday because of it.
Bway weeks run Mon. - Sun.
I was just editing that as you posted, but yes - they use to be off Tuesday/Thursday for awhile, but now it's simply Thursdays.
clumsydude - perhaps that's the reason, but everyone (including newsies) reports their box office #s for the week for Monday, so it still seems odd that people leave mid-week. Jeremy left after a Tuesday performance and Kyle leaves after a Wednesday performance, and then Capathia, Lewis, and Matthew on the typical Sunday. It's just odd.
I didn't really find the departure date that odd since Jeremy's departure date was the originally announced vacation date for his wedding. As for Kyle, maybe he just wanted to stay as long as possible? What I did find odd is that LaVon didn't start last night, but rather Julie Foldesi (understudy) went on as Medda Larkin. Then again, with all the role shuffling that apparently went on last night, maybe that's not too much of a surprise.
Does anyone know when Kevin Carolan is returning from his injury?

I haven't read through all the posts on here, but I was wondering if anyone heard any more about a kid named Ryan Wood joining the cast? I heard he was joining as a swing a while back, but never saw his name on the website or call board. Anyone know anything?

Well it seems like leaving has nothing to do with when someone goes on vacation. People usually take vacation starting on the off day, Thursday, and come back the next Friday to get the full vacation time. I guess when people leave it doesn't matter how they use days since they are not returning. I mean, Ephraim left on a Friday night. I think that's weirder than Kyle leaving on Wednesday, the day before the dark day.
