Are Gypsy and The Little Mermaid tours, or are they being produced there?
Gypsy is being produced here from Theater Latté Da & the Hennepin Theatre Trust. The reworked production of The Little Mermaid is from Houston's Theater Under the Stars, I believe it's a regional tour.

Oh I just realized you are probably right about the Curran. That is my favorite theatre of all time What do you think will go in to the Curran now? It doesn't seem logical to leave a theatre empty.
I'm wondering if it'll be used for graduations, non-Broadway dance shows, comedians and such. I'm pretty sure that's what happened to the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago when it stopped being a Broadway in Chicago house.

That may change now that Shorenstein Hays has left SHN, as details of future operating agreements become known. Shorenstein Hays is said to own the Curran Theatre, and the agreements under which SHN - which retains the business name - will use the three theaters have not yet been announced.

Here in the California desert (near Palm Springs), the McCallum Theater hosts quite a few touring shows, as does the Fox in Riverside, about an hour away. Unfortunately, they usually play for at most 3 performances each. That seems to eliminate the most technically complex musicals from coming to this area, because it's too much to set up and tear down in the small amount of time allotted. When I saw "Elf," the first performance was late starting because something technical was still going on -- sound checks or last minute stage set-up or who knows what else.
I always assumed that the short runs would eliminate most of the shows with elaborate sets or effects -- setting up a chandelier to crash or a helicopter to land would be very difficult unless the theater would be kept empty for days in advance. Yet, I noticed that the Fox has just added Les Miz to the end of the 2014-15 season. I wonder whether they'll use the new Broadway staging.
Audrey, the Phantom Phanatic, who nonetheless would rather be Jean Valjean, who knew how to make lemonade out of lemons.
Not to be rude but I've already predicted/said what shows might/will be going to the Ahmanson theatre a million times on this thread. I hope Hedwig comes just for L.A. that'll be awesome. Cause it looks like it's not going on tour.
