Despite the reviews this was on my list of shows to see for our trip to New York from April 25th to May 5th... shame it closed a week too early for us to see but when i went to see what tickets were available with the discounts available it didn't bode well that at least 80% of the theatre was avaialable to book just over a week out from the performance.
This and HARDBODY were on my list... will now look to replace with another show. Wasn't keen on PIPPIn but may add now (have seen productions before and wasn't wowed).
Also whats THE ASSEMBLED PARTIES like?

This play was no more "faithful" to the novella than the film was - yes, it had a lot in common, and large chunks of narration and dialogue lifted directly. But the character of the narrator ("Fred") bore little resemblance to the character in the story.
The show's biggest crime, however, was being flat, grey, and dull. I didn't think it really was the actors' fault (although Cory Michael Smith was working awfully hard to be "cute"), but rather the writing and directing, which just felt lazy.

Posted: 4/16/13 at 7:06pmSue. I'm with you. I don't care if it got lousy reviews. It was something I wanted to see. Unfortunately, I don't live in NYC, so I couldn't exchange for this week. The price for tickets, was less than fifty dollars (with fees). I'm sure I would have found something positive in the show to enjoy. There hasn't been a musical or play yet, that there wasn't some redeeming factor in it for me. So now I'm missing this and Hands.
