Seeing that On Your Feet is taking that barn of a theatre, I was wondering how Evita fared with Ricky Martin during its run. Does anyone know if it was profitable ( made its capital back +?) How long did it run? Thanks
Thanks, Neon. Interesting that his show capped at 9.6 Million, still lost money and Gloria's show is close to 15 mill. That' a lot of seats to fill. Wonder how it'll do….
The mess of the revival ran for 10 months including previews and only did so because of Ricky Martin's legion of Latina fans. If he were not in it, it would have run 2 months. It was that awful. I will guess that OYF will run the same amount of time, if not less.
I didnt see it on Broadway, but I did catch the the national tour of Evita here in Los Angeles, which I found to be quite enjoyable. It was my first time seeing it onstage and I had nothing to compare it to other than the film.
The production was rich, but the EVITA couldn't sing. That sunk it for most I think. Loved the production, the lighting, dancing, acting, but GODDDDDAMN that little EVITA actress COULD NOT SING IT.
Yup, Roger's casting really ruined that revival. Her performance might have been a smash in London, but Broadway was not having it. It blows my mind that we have TWO cast recordings of her excruciating vocals.
