...There are a lot more options than those listed!
In my perfect world, I'm going with
Joan Allen Fionnula Flanagan Dearbhla Molloy Mercedes Ruehl Julie White
Though I know it's delusional to exclude Celia Keenan-Bolger and possibly another TKAM actress like Erin Wilhelmi. (I loathed TKAM, but Wilhelmi was my favorite part, so there's that.)
I’m really pulling for Ruth Wilson to get in, and I think she has a pretty good shot based on the precursors. My current predictions are:
Celia Keenan-Bolger Fionnula Flanagan Ruth Wilson
With Julie White, Joan Allen, and Mercedes Ruehl battling it out for the last two slots.
I know a lot of people have thrown around Richardson-Jackson’s name, but as much as I liked her, I don’t see her getting in. Her scenes definitely pack a punch on the surface, but through no fault of her own, the character is relatively 1-dimensional. Her role feels more like a device to develope Atticus as a character. And like I said, that’s Sorkin/Lee’s fault, not hers. But I think it will hurt her chances nonetheless.
I would love to see a surprise joint nomination of Rosdely Ciprian and Thursday Williams for What the Constitution Means to Me. It's very unlikely, though.
