Recently I've been seeing people wanting others to put their age on social media, like in their bios on Twitter and such. How do people feel about that? Like pronouns? I have absolutely, positively no problem putting those everywhere. But my age? If you don't feel comfortable talking to someone, don't engage with them! Their age doesn't have to do with it. There are some things people don't have to post on their social media, like their age. Even if it's "18+" that doesn't mean someone would be comfortable putting that.
I’ve had my pronouns on Twitter for a few months now, but age doesn’t make sense. You’d have to keep updating it. Your age probably changes more often than your pronouns.
I am honestly not into the pronoun thing. That is just me so please don't scream at me about it.
I have never had a problem putting my age. And when I tell people my age they don't believe me anyway! They think I am younger. As far as updating it, you do it once a year. Have we become that lazy that we can't do a yearly update when we are doing so many other things online? It takes 2 seconds.

You don't want to put your pronouns, I don't want to put my age. That's not being lazy. That's personal preference and comfort.

My comment wasn't referring to wanting to put it or not, it was referring to having to update it yearly.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

As long as you put in your birth year along with your birthdate there are already a number of social media sites that will update your age in your profile automatically.

True, I was going to add that but there are a lot that don't and figured someone would point that out. But yes, you are correct!
I think like most things- the decision should be up to the holder of the account- still chewing on the idea that this might be an anti-ageism stance but have to take into account more variables like privacy etc
I caught a guy lying about his age on Scruff back in May. He sent me a photo of his hospital bracelet to prove he had already had Covid (not that I would have invited him over at that point in the pandemic) and then tried to tell me that the hospital had typed his birthdate wrong on it when I asked him why it said he was nine years older than what he claimed on his profile (59 instead of 50).
