The Duplex cabaret and piano bar has opened their cabaret room for an all Sondheim evening every Friday at 11pm.
I've gone on the past 2 fridays and the intimacy of the room is wonderful. Come on down and sing your favorite Sondheim tune.
The pianist has several Sondheim books to choose from so there's no need to lug your music with you.

OH MAMA the singers at SF were pretty amazing and everyone was very friendly and welcoming when I got up to sing. The atmosphere is just completely charming and cozy. I completely agree that them having the Sondheim books on-hand makes everything just that much more enjoyable so you don't have to worry about lugging your music around with you everywhere. You think you know sondheim until you hear a whole night dedicated to him and hear some of the most obscure sondheim songs. And plenty of the old faves of course. It's an education! LOL! I'm going back next week. A bunch of us should meet up for next week before the show. Anyone up for it?

If I can make it, anyone want to sing Agony with me?
EDIT: I'm really good. I promise. re: Sondheim Fridays at The Duplex
EDIT: It's because I'm married isn't it? I promise, she'll never know I sing Sondheim on the side.

Word. Word, indeed.

i was just on the duplex's offical website and the one host brandon's name is actually spelled cutrell. though from what I've seen it should be spelled CUTE-rell. Mmm...hmmm. It also says no cover, and no minimum (which is nice cuz there's always that two drink minimum downstairs- gets me thinking about my friends in the program- I suppose they can have two coffees-ha)

D. Marie....
I watched that friggin video like 3 times last night.

OK! As long as we're on this topic of NYC cabarets or whatever,
I, Brodybaby03, am in a singing contest on Wednesday night hosted by the ever fabulous PORSCHE, and I am singng "She Loves to Hear the Music" from Boy From OZ
The grand prize is a 1,000 dollars. I AM good I promise you! I already won 100 in semi finals. I'm very good, and my outfit is VERY VERY good! :)
If you're interested in coming for a Frozen cosmo and some fun, please go to OSCAR WILDES on 55th btw. 2nd and 3rd this Wednesday...get there by 10:30 I would say, and see some of the best talent in NYC...get beat....by MOI! :)
Honestly though, it would be cool if anyone came, and you'd help me reach my goal of my first pair of Manolos! :)
xoxo
