my friend is doing some class, he has to fill out this broadway trivia questionairre thingy. to be honest, i am not all that versed on broadway trivia. can anyone help?
the two questions stumping us are: 1)what musical has the following moment: cans of stewed tomatoes explode 2)what musical would fit this " tabloid" heading: boy disguised as girl exposed while threading needle?
Barnaby and Cornelius want a 'night off' working at Mr. Vendegelder's Hay and Feed Store so they hold candles under the Tomato cans to make them explode. The stench is so bad that they know people will stay out of the store so they can go into New York and have an adventure.
and by the by, they won't come home until they've kissed a girl!

thank you! for the first one, still dont know the second one. but, i guess the tabloid thing is not part of the show, just how they worded the question. thank you though. anyone know the second? i thnk that the needle is literal, as my friend attends a pretty religious college, so i am guessing there is no double meaning, but who knows?

i know i've heard of like a STORY where a boy dresses as a girl to hide from...something, i don't remember...but he seeks refuge with this old woman who discovers that he's not a girl because he threads the needle by trying to thread the needle ONTO the thread versus threading the thread THROUGH the needle. or something like that. but i've never heard of it in a musical...
WAIT. could it be any version of the Huck Finn/Tom Saywer musicals? it seems like it could fit in there...like that time period.
Yeah, it is Big River. Good trivia question though!
