Somehow, the little boats worked just fine in RAGTIME, but not at all in TITANIC.
I understand CAPEMAN had a little Greyhound Bus that crossed the stage.
Didn't Showboat have a mini-boat too? When I saw the show, it got a round of applause and a group AWWWWWWWWWWWW.

And it isn't even a model of the Titanic - it's the Mauratania. So obviously, it wasn't built especially for the show - it was purchased used.
When I saw "Valley of the Dolls" live on stage, they had a toy train cross the stage with someone dumping snow on top of it while they did the title song. It was hilarious.
The original production of ON THE 20TH CENTURY had a little train go across the stage. It was a delightfully effective moment for that show.
