Because people like it. It has recognizable songs, and got some very good reviews. How hard is that to understand?
And why is it in your favorites if it bored you?

it isn't.
it's just 4 guys singing the same EXACT songs as the 4 seasons. what makes it so special? no big sets, no nice costumes, no nothing. it's a concert- not a show. it should be at msg not at the august wilson.
Like said above, if you don't "get it" then why do you have it in your favorites?

It's actually got a great story and great music.
As I asked, how old are you? The target market is a middle-aged audience. People who grew up on the music.
Ditto what Becoz said.

haha but you still haven't explained why it's in your favorites.
OK, great! So you've answered one question! Just a few more to go...

it's not in my favorites.
Wow, I feel much smarter now. Thank you.
Take a look at your profile. It clearly says "Jersey Boys" under Favorite Shows.

Wow...you totally fooled us by taking it out of your profile AFTER we commented on it.
FWIW, I didn't "get" nor do I currently "get" Wicked or Light in the Pizza, but I'm not starting topics asking about them. It's perfectly fine to have an unpopular opinion, but why start an entire topic about it? People like different things.
(Then again, I'm not 16, either, and I have better taste in icons.)
Nice. You took it out of your profile after we commented on it. This post reminds me why LizzieCurry is one of my favorite BWW posters.
But yet you are currently listening to "Jersey Boys" in your profile.
I don't know what concert you've seen, but most of the time, cover bands don't reenact the lives of who they cover in their concerts.
It's a musical that has a story like any other.
Don't feel bad, I don't get it either and I'm 27.
And I see nothing wrong with stating a topic about a show you dislike. There’s nothing wrong with debate, and you are certainly not the first person to start such a topic. While the execution of said topic could have been better, there’s nothing wrong with the topic.
It's not that I don't get the appeal because I understand there are fans of the original music. I just don't understand how so many people are fans of it. (Don't anyone say "Well people like the show, so they are fans. I know how one BECOMES a fan. I just don't like the show)
BUT. You have to be a good singer to sing that score and those Jersey Boys are goood singers.

Lol:
How old are you?
Sixteen, your honor.
Goooood times.
Honestly, from all the promo material I thought the show would just be a concert too, but I fell in love with the story, characters and (tour) cast.

I find far too often that people who have unpopular opinions like to bandy that about as if "HEY, LOOKIT ME, I GO AGAINST THE GRAIN! I AM DIFFURNT, HURRRR!!" then start topics like this in which they can disguise their rebelliousness with lame curiosity.
That may or may not be the case here, but it happens enough to be irritating.
I AM DIFFURNT, HURRRR!!"
That made me happy
LOL, yay!
I AM DIFFURNT, HURRRR!!
oh that is awesome, hee!
