So This week on "Backstage with Liz" Im presenting the best of Stephen Schwartz: Wicked, Pippin, and Godspell, let me know if you have a favorite song from any of the shows and I will play it and make a shout out to you live on the air! Posted: 2/18/08 at 9:44pmYou can listen to it online at www.thebirn.com It's the radio station at Berklee College of Music in Boston, all you have to do is go to the website, click on channel 1, and it will load into your itunes or other music player, it's easy and free!

Marking Time (if you can find a recording, cut from PIPPIN, maybe on BANNED IN BOSTON series of CD's)
Good Time Ladies Rag (if you can find the lyrics recorded, it's the dance music for the Manson Trio, but the words were cut from PIPPIN)
some of the 2000 tour versions of GODSPELL songs, the arrangements are great and more contemporary

Posted: 2/18/08 at 10:14pmHow about "Out There" and "God Help the Outcasts"? I know he didn't write the music for Hunchback, but I think it's his best lyrical effort.

Posted: 2/18/08 at 10:15pmI agree if you're going outside the three titles, some of Schwartz's best lyric writing is when someone else sets his form and he has to "fit" to it.....(another composer).
