so i have the option of going to Minneapolis for Pride this year and was thinking of making a return trip to see this production. i've heard nothing but good things about the score and was wanting some advice on the matter.
has anyone seen a workshop of this show that could comment on the production as a whole? i know the Guthrie does amazing stuff. article on Playbill
The Musical workshop previewed in NYC on 04/16-17 but was closed to the public. I could potential open in the fall on Broadway... I have been looking for reviews online but i haven't found any.... Enjoy Pride!
When this was announced several months ago, ther was talk of Melissa Gilbert playing Mom and Patrick Swayze playing Pop Ingalls. Ironic - because Micahael Landon died of cancer, and now Swayze is afflicted.
Wasn't Lucy Simon going to write a musical based on these books? There's one composer I'd like to hear more from...
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
Minneapolis is worth a trip during any season. Be sure to check other fun theaters in the area (Mixed Blood, Penumbra, Red Eye, Jeune Lune) Also, go to the Town House for Pride in St. Paul..it rocks out on Wednesdays.
I'll be going to see Little House this summer in Minneaplois and I can't recommend the city enough. There's so much to do, lots of interesting communities and The Guthrie is truly a show stopper of a theatre. I haven't heard much of the show but I'm excited for the chance to see an out of town premiere. I believe tickets go on sale in early June.

One of my dance students was going to audition to be in the Guthrie's Little House on the Prairie. He does a LOT of theater. He turned the audition down though because he wants to have a normal summer, and play baseball. I'm kinda bummed because I would have loved to have seen him perform, but he's only 12, so I think it's great that he wants to enjoy his summer, rather then spending it entirely in rehearsals. I know he'll be doing a lot of that in the rest of his lifetime!
If you are able to do it, definitely give it a go. But you're going to want to get your tickets early because this is a show that will almost definitely sell out.
I have to say, this is one of the best Guthrie seasons in years. I cannot wait to see what they do with Caroline, or Change.
P.S., Pride in Minneapolis is a total blast.
"You just can't win. Ever. Look at the bright side, at least you are not stuck in First Wives Club: The Musical. That would really suck. "
