>>>Marvel exec, Peter Cuneo, spoke in New York today about the Spider-man Musical they've been planning for Broadway.
The current status of the show is that it's definitely a go. They are only waiting for a theater to run it in.

Marvel exec Cuneo continued, "a late '09 launch or a 2010...actually it's a challenge to find a theater on Broadway right now. These things are all scheduled, as you might imagine, well in advance. So the timing is more related to getting a theater than it is to the progress of the show."

How about the Hilton? It'll definitely be freed up then.
Ha ha ha.
Wasn't there *rumor* it was going to the Nederlander?
I'm sure they want a bigger house. I bet they're waiting for the Hilton.
Well, Reidel did write that whole article about how Taymor was reportedly checking out the Hilton while the YF cast was rehearsing. Which is ironic because Stroman was doing the same thing for that show when The Pirate Queen was rehearsing. (They hadn't even closed yet!) But yeah, they're going to need a big house for all the flying and crap. I'd suggest the Richard Rodgers (it held Tarzan) if there weren't MAJOR sightline issues and if I didn't think In the Heights would be successful.
Assuming that most of the flying will be over the audience, I would think that they would need a theatre with as much "head room" as possible, which really only leaves about 5 to choose from, Hilton, Palace, Broadway, New Amsterdam, Minskoff, 2 of those definately won't be available anytime soon.
Personally the Hilton would be the best since it has the most space, it's a double balcony and the balconies are rather small.

But the Hilton is housing Young Frankenstein and I know that Spiderman is not gonna be as good as Young Frankenstein.
My left nut is better then YF.

whats wrong with young frankenstein. roger bart is doing an excellent job leading the cast. i just dont think spiderman would last on the broadway stage.
Roger Bart would give his left nut to get out of that crap.
He was in LA looking for work this week.

Exactly the cast is leading Young Frankenstein, it's nothing without a good cast, I think Spider Man will be good.
I still don't think Spiderman was meant to sing, but I guess we'll see how this turns out, huh? I think the Hilton would be perfect for it. Young Frankenstein probably won't be there a year from now.
Young Frankenstein is a flawed misfire with a great cast holding it together.
Once Roger, Megan, Sutton and Andrea leave, however, I can't really se the show lasting much longer.

That is true. Well they should put a good show in there instead of spiderman you know
You don't know if it'll be good or not. No one's heard the music. (That demo circulating is a fake)
Taymor has wanted the Hilton for months now. She's been taking backstage tours and various inspections, with the staff, since December.
Don't be surprised for SPIDERMAN to book it, once YF announces they're closing. Whenever that is. Hopefully soon.

Really? Who wrote the demo? How'd you find this out?
I've heard the demo tracks... they're not fake.
The one I heard wasn't fake, at least.
Hmmm.
Did the one you have have "Hot Dish", "Heroes", and "The Press Conference"? Because mine did, and they were awful.
If there's another demo, I'd love to hear it, if you could PM me a link.
Yeah, I have that demo and it's obviously for an entirely different production. Not the one currently in the works for Broadway. It's written by Henry Marsh and Phil Pickett, authors of The Mask Musical and Casper The Musical (with David H Bell).
That's the one I have. I just didn't know it wasn't the one related to this production.

Oh thank God, that demo is awful.
I don't have that one.
I don't physically have the official demo - I've only heard two of the tracks.
Wasn't the music for this Spiderman written by Bono and The Edge?
