Is anyone going to this:

BLOOMINGDALE'S IN-STORE APPEARANCE

You are invited to Bloomingdale's for a free in-store performance featuring the cast of RENT.

Thursday, July 17, 2008
5:30 pm
Bloomingdale's
59th Street
New York City
Y.E.S. Contemporary Sportswear, on 2

Following the performance, you can meet the actors and get their autographs!

Also, while you're at Bloomingdale's, be sure
to check out the RENT window displays, featuring costumes
worn over the past 12 years on Broadway, including the
original Mimi lavender lace top worn by DAPHNE RUBIN-VEGA
in "Light My Candle," the rust-colored leather
coat worn by JESSE L. MARTIN and subsequent actors who
played Tom Collins over the last 10 years, and the sweater
worn by original "Seasons of Love" soloist GWEN
STEWART. The RENT costumes will be on display at
Bloomingdale's from July 9th through the 20th.

There's NO DAY BUT TODAY to celebrate RENT one
last time.

That's fun.

I hadn't realized that all the Collins wore that same coat. The kimono that Mimi wears in "Out Tonight" is the same one Daphne wore and EVERY single actress since has worn it. Crazy.

Actually it's not always the same one Daphne used. Usually the kimonos are red, but some Mimis have used an orange one.

They keep some costume pieces (mainly the coats) on hand and use it for any of the replacements who fit.

I don't think anything could be more true to the Bohemian struggling artist spirit of Rent then a Bloomingdale's performance.

Why Bloomingdales of ALL the possible places? I don't get the connection...

Bloomingdales has Broadway shows performing at their store from time to time. They also have had in the past an evening of Broadway/off-Broadway shows performing in October.
