I read all of the Reddit Chicago comments about Ashley Graham.  The comments were very favorable for the current Velma, Sophie Carmen Jones.  The views regarding Ashley Graham's performance were rough, to say the least.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

OUCH! The Ashley Graham reviews from her debut last night are rough. She can't sing(a la Wendy Williams bad), she forgot her lines several times and her choreography has been watered down terribly.

I guess I'll have to upgrade my account to keep the photos from disappearing.    I'm thinking of starting a new thread.  I have tons of classic stage door pictures.  I have of one with Angela Lansbury, but  it didn't occur to me to take a picture with Marian Seldes.   ( I do have her teeny tiny autograph on the Deuce Playbill.)

Ten years ago today, I saw "Chicago" in Forth Worth.  Here with the delightful and Ft. Worth native Dylis Croman.

This is my Velma Kelly collage.   I've seen Terra C as Velma Kelly more times than any other.  My second picture with Leigh Zimmerman is from 2017.

I use Postimage.org.   Sometimes, the images go blank after a while.  Are they trying to tell me something.  I might create a new Stage Door thread.  I've got tons of pictures.   Here is a collage of a former Billy Flynn (u/s) Jason Patrick Sands.  Looking at the dates, I forgot that I had seen Chicago in June and December of 2015.  I first saw JPS in A Chorus Line.  He reminded me of a blonde Beach Boy.

I saw an Instagram post by Mary Claire King.  She mentioned her departure from the show some two weeks ago.  https://www.instagram.com/p/DHtuE5FPqnr/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link  From Velma Kelly, to Roxie Hart and Go-To-Hell-Kitty, she does it all.  She is fabulous!

A lame-ass tutorial of an abridged version of the “Hot Honey Rag.” It’s not even the full dance number. Geez.

If you're talking about past shows, I have some favorites:  Addams Family, Lombardi, Therese Raquin, The Visit, Moulin Rouge, Sweeney Todd, Cagney...etc.  I have booked Chicago for June 20th.  I'm looking at Bus Stop, Old Friends and maybe Boop.

Sutton, you're one of our most venerable members.  When did you first join BWW?  Anyway, if you haven't seen  Dylis Croman as Roxie, you're in for a treat!  She is a master of the Fosse style.  Like Charlotte D'Amboise, Dylis has her special touches she always bring to the role of Roxie.  If you're in the NYC area, go see Dylis!

Today marks my 14th anniversary of seeing Chicago.  Although I first went to NYC in 2006, I didn't give Chicago much of a thought.  When I saw it on March 17, 2011, I was dazzled.  Initially, Bianca Marroquin was scheduled as Roxie (maybe for an Evita audition?)  so Dylis Croman (fellow Texan) appeared in her place.  Leigh Zimmerman was Velma.  Here is a picture of me with Jason Patrick Sands.

Attended a performance last month with Erika Jayne; the audience was liiiit...unfortunately, the Ensemble was not.  A good portion of them needed a solid note sesh.  Or maybe a new job (or just a new Stage Manager.)  "Cell Block Tango" was missing...grit.  Half of Roxie's boys were lifeless.  Won't call out specific sleepwalkers here but, will give a nod to some worth praising: Kristen Oei as Hunyak (simply lovely), John Michael Fiurmara as Fred (great energy), and swing Sharon Moore (seasoned pro, seen her since 1997; if she's marking then it's better than what's happening elsewhere onstage.)
