I have a question.
Do any of the sets still exist? What happened to the yellow brick road? Any "bricks" still around?

Then you agree with Fricke. I love Harmetz's book so much--it felt like a treasure trove of Oz information when it came out--I love it so much that it's hard for me to think that she ever got anything wrong. But Fricke is very good at cutting away the hype and the legend and celebrating the movie for the actual genius in it.

And I love a good Oz gif or meme.

Can anyone comment on the reference in this article that Judy Garland wore Swarovski crystals in the film. On the slippers maybe??

The slippers would be the only costume piece Judy wears that I could imagine Swarovski crystals being used.
I do know they used Swarovski crystals for the slippers created for Return to Oz. There are stories about the wardrobe department constantly combing the set to retrieve crystals that were knocked off the shoes when Fairuza Balk would begin fidgeting, eventually only allowing her to wear them in shots where her feet were showing.

He was given a signal to run. You can see the exact moment. Trained dogs are not easily startled on set and you can be assured it was rehearsed.

Maybe for the leather bows. They each had bugle beads sewn onto them, surrounded by rhinestones to form the bows. Maybe they were Swarovski crystals (?), but the shoes themselves were hand-sewn red/burgundy sequins, not crystals.
