re: 18 and younger??

LadyGuenevere- same here " never really felt like a regular teenager- or their definition of it anyway." I'm not like other teenagers. I mean i'm like the only girl in my HS thats obsessed with broadway. People say I'm like 15 going on 30. lol

re: 18 and younger??

It's not just the theater stuff with me, but I get what you mean. Most of the people I know that want to be actresses are just sitting there and waiting to 'be discovered.' I'm moving.

It's also my interest in politics, and the fact that I don't enjoy going to the mall with friends every single week (which gets boring after...2 weeks.), and all that fun stuff.

re: 18 and younger??

Yeah, I'm a lot different than my friends and definitely not a normal teenager. First, I have the strange obsession with Broadway. Second, I don't like shopping. My family says I'm 13 going on 40.

re: 18 and younger??

Not a lot of people in my school love Broadway and I am probably the bigest fan, along with my sister. She, my friend Jen, and I have so many Broadway inside jokes from shows we've seen and everyone else just thinks we're freaks, lol. I can't wait to really start acting because theatre isn't really supported in my school re: 18 and younger?? The one admin. that did just retired re: 18 and younger?? -Penny

re: 18 and younger??

I definitely feel alone in my life. I am obsessed with musical theatre and it's the only thing that I am passionate about. I prefer to sit around singing and acting and performing in my room along to a bunch of my showtunes cd's, iO showtunes, Bwayworld Radio, or broadway mp3's and such...
like tonight, i had plans with 3 different people so i blew them all off and am sitting around listening to Sunday in the Park with George (I LOVE BERNADETTE and SONDHEIM!!!!)
anyways, i'm a big loser at school i think.

Matt_G: I personally find it hilarious that people actually believed you about your age. 16? Um, no.

I'm 18, and I love it. I'm a senior in high school right now. I have the easiest courseload I've ever had. It's amazing. I'm having a lot of fun.

I currently go to a PA magnet school, but I understand what the rest of you are going through. It's tough to be a theatre kid in a school without a good theatre program. I totally understand. That was me sophomore year. I completely understand your pain.

re: 18 and younger??

I make up dances to showtunes in my bathroom, of all places. I'm not alone. My drama class is like a family, and we all love showtunes....me more then all, but....*cheeky grin*

And yes, I like many a musical written before 1990.

re: 18 and younger??

I'm 13, but I'm old for my age... Ok, enough RENT references. I do love musical before 1990, though. Pippin and JCS and Godspell are the best!
I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

I will be 18 on September 3rd. This coming school year will thankfully be my last. Woo Hoo!

re: 18 and younger??

I've been in all types and sorts of drama classes and no one is into broadway or any of hing the old GOOD stuff. I'm the only one.
Only my friends and teachers know about my broadway obsession. A lot of people don't think of me like someone like that. They think I'm just like an everyday teenager, but I'm not. I do things a lot differently and like a lot of different stuff.

re: 18 and younger??

The high school I'm going to is doing Macbeth(sp? Haha wow I'm pathetic) this year, and I have no interest in that. The high school I was supposed to go to(Catholic high school, super expensive. 2 siblings in college, no financial aid.Ugh) has a fantastic drama program and I would kill to be in it. They were doing 'Guys and Dolls' and I was a hotbox dancer. It's one of the best in my area, and instead I get stuck in hickville with a bunch of Shakespeare kids. Not my cup of tea. Same thing with my middle school. My best friend stopped being friends with me because I love Broadway. Needless to say, she isn't my friend anymore.
What is Broadway? A street? Some say it's a street. Some say it is the best street in the world. Others think its terrible. That's the beauty of it, it's terribly beautiful. Some hate it and don't know why. Others love it and don't know why. That's what makes it so wonderful, it's a mystery.

"hickville with a bunch of Shakespeare kids"

Hey, come now- why do you dis the Bard? He rocks.

re: 18 and younger??

Bard... as in William Shakespeare? Maybe? Haha, well if it is... I think Shakespeares plays are good but they just don't suit me well. I was Titania in A Midsummer's Night Dream and I didn't enjoy it much.

re: 18 and younger??

Jon, first year of college wasn't that bad! There is the midterm-winter blahs, but you survive...
Of course, I sing for a degree. It doesn't get much sweeter than that!

And eponine79, my "sometimes-boyfriend" is going through his quarter-life crisis (hence the "sometimes boyfriend" state of things). I can only vicariously understand.....but I know it isn't pleasent. All the self-evaluation and thinking about where you thought you'd be at 25 and where you actually are. And, I guess in your case, the wanting to be a drunken skanky 19 year old again (hahha it's great being 19). You'll pull through, just be thankful you're not as old as Zola!

re: 18 and younger??

My first high school musical was Pirates of Penzance. The fact that I still loved broadway after doing an operetta with a horrendous director says wonderssss :)

As many others have said...I'm the only broadway nut out of my friends (Im 18, college frosh), and I do community/school theater but will never be on broaday, and I like ALOT of musicals, not just the newer ones!
