I think they should use the tactic they did in the 80's/90's sitcoms:

"Tonight, on a very special 2 1/2 Men, we must say goodbye to____"

They can kill off his character and bring in someone else! Anyway, his movies are getting more airplay now and that brings in a mint- as well as syndication.

Actually, I don't see how that could happen. The premise of the show is Alan living in Charlie's house. If Charlie were to die it would not only change the entire tone of the show but Alan would no longer have a place to live (and I don't see Charlie leaving the house to Alan in his will). If they're going to keep the show running the best thing I can think of is to just pull a Dick York/Dick Sargent.

Who says the transition has to be handled with sensitivity or sense? I can almost imagine the writers making Sheen's character have an LA Law-Elevator Shaft moment off-screen. The writers can also have a lot 'ripped from the headlines' fun and be meta like how Roseanne dealt with the two Beckys.

Eris- if they kill Charlie off, then Alan can still live in Charlie's house. Since it's his brother, he can leave the house to him in his will! (it would be a surprise and I don't see why he wouldn't leave the house to his brother) When John Ritter died in real life, they brought in James Garner and David Spade on 8 Simple Rules. There have been plenty of times that sitcoms have had to replace real stars who have died. In CBS's eyes, Sheen is dead to them so why not kill him on the show. After about 8 years, it could be a new dynamic! Personally, I don't care as I don't really watch the show that much. My husband loves it though. It's just funny to me how everyone is talking about him-it's like all these shows are salivating over him. As I'm typing this, the Today Show is doing a segment on him and his antics. Mel Gibson must be so happy right now!

I simply cannot see Charlie leaving the house to Alan. He's just too selfish. Honestly, if they do kill him I could see him leaving the house to Jenny McCarthy's character (if they're still together I haven't seen a new episode in a long time) before he leaves it to Alan. She'll either become Alan's landlord and be a total pest or she'll throw him out. Alan will either move in with his mom or move to a junky apartment surrounded by wacky neighbors.

That's how I'd do it anyway. Alan was once compared to Job w/ God pushing him around for fun. Things can't work out for Alan unless it's the series finale. If they plan on keeping the show running they have to keep finding ways to push him around. Getting the house in Charlie's will would be too close to things going in his favor.

"Charley" goes to Evelyn's plastic surgeon, and comes back as- John Stamos, Fred Savage or even Jason Bateman. ( he went Total Christian so the show might not fit his morality) As long as "Rose" sees no difference, it will play.

Don't like my choices? Pick some one else. CBS will bring it back for at least another year.

Justine Bateman went all Christian (she famously told ET that she walked into church and the Holy Spirit fell on top of her). I've never heard that Jason went down that path, too.

Here's how to do it. Charlie dies, mauled by a Bengal tiger while on a sex tour of India. Leaves the house to Jon Cryer, but there are a lot of back taxes due. So Jon and the kid take in a roommate, a pre-op male-to-female transexual. It has a kinky edge and they get to keep the title.

Reboot: Rose finally wears Charlie down (off-camera) and whisks him off to London. Charlie tells Alan to look after the house. At the same time, Judith finally runs off Herb (Ryan Stiles), who is forced to move in with Alan and Jake. Alan is forced to be the strong one for the destroyed Herb ("half-a-man?"), and the show goes on, only now about two grown men and a teen making their way through the dating scene of Malibu with only a cool house to show for their efforts.

Courtney's out of prison and showed up for a couple of episodes late Nov/Dec. Dated Charlie for those eps, then they broke up.

My solution....fast forward the show five years (like Desperate Housewives). Have Charlie anywhere, but Malibu (London,etc). Have Jake become a teen father of a four or five year old.(Angus could pass for twenty one) Then you have the two and a half men concept all over again. You have the "cuteness" or "smart alecness" of a child. No replacement for Sheen. This would allow more screen time for the best of the show. Holland and Conchita (sp)/maid. Purely my thoughts. Just glad Sheen is out of there.
