I just checked the group (I'm mto926948, and I can't believe how well I have done. I have been doing this on Yahoo for 6 years and have never picked all of the Final Four. I'm now hoping for a Florida-Ohio State final.

The last couple days have been rough. I am pretty depressed about Jason Ray, the UNC mascot, who died earlier today from the injuries he sustained over the weekend.

He is from the same hometown as me, Concord, NC and although I didn't know him personally, I know a lot of his relatives and friends. It is really a tragic story.

In another odd twist of fate, one of my former students (who is from the same county that Concord is in) is the "backup" mascot. He was one of my best theatre students back when I taught high school drama and is currently a sophomore at UNC. This year he was Jason Ray's alternate and did some of men's basketball games, but mostly the women's games. After Jason graduated this May, he would take on the role of "Rameses" for all of the men's games for next two years. He is pretty devastated by everything, because the two of them have become close friends over the course of the year.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Jason and his family. A tradedy like this makes the game itself (and the fact that UNC lost) seem VERY insignificant.
