The light show on Carrie's dress is one of the most fabulous things I've seen on a stage. What a great idea. Wish I saw it in person...

And then - PRINCE even tho he's only presenting.

WOW

No not you. Prince. And why would he play? When was his last good musical idea?

Seacrest IS out, right?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

most of these performances tonight sucked; including this crap-fest of a closing number.

Adele is always a delight. I want her to have a talk show or something so I can just watch her jabber and laugh for a while. I'm glad my beloved fun. won a few. That Taylor Swift opening was just... "Hey! I'm gonna do my song with an Alice in Wonderland concept but the concept is gonna add absolutely nothing to the song or performance!" I don't think fun.'s onstage rain storm really added anything to their song, either, but I liked seeing them wet.

I was glad Gotye won. And Frank Ocean, too, although I thought his number was dull.

Frank Ocean's performance was odd, to say the least. I doubt he added any new fans due to that performance.

To be fair, their bright melodies and catchy hooks notwithstanding, their songs always do have little gray rain clouds over them, don't they?

They do, very much so. I think that's what I like about them. One of the things I like about them.

I had to watch Frank sing "Bad Religion" on Jimmy Fallon 5 times to get that Grammy performance out of my head.

Uh oh. Here we go. I'm afraid this is going to be another Madonna - esque topic between us.

Jane- agree w u about the dress. I found myself thinking "that's what they need to do for Catching Fire in the Tributes ride".

Adele breaks me up- she looks like she came off of early episodes of Eastenders. "Get me another pint Den, me ould son- and one fer yerself too!"

Not at all. I truuuuuuuuuuly loved Prince. I stuck by him through the exceedingly unfortunate symbol name and "SLAVE" eras. I kept buying his music right up to and including the disasterous mail order Crystal Ball scheme and the (awful) Target exclusive. I saw several tours live, the first one being in 1982. I knew him to be, for a good long while, a true musical genius.

Then he joined a cult, says Republicans want to start wars and Democrats want gay marriage so he doesn't vote, and he told Wendy and Lisa that he can't support their relationships with women and the fact that both couples have children. In a word: homophobe.

The fact that he has not released anything new in years also supports my point that he hasn't had a good idea in quite some time.

And I LOVE how people all over my facebook feed are posting pics of Chris Brown and Rhianna together and saying things like, "Awwww!" Swedish news keeps showing them and reporting more in a, "WTF?!" manner.

I just wish these "musicians" would have focused more on their vocals than theatrics. Pick a key before you choose to have it rain on you.

Phyllis, you should watch Adele on Graham Norton Show. She was a riot.

Watched the show last night, most of it, and was underwhelmed. I do love to watch Justin Timberlake, he's a marvelous performer, he brings a real joy to everything he does. I just wish the music he's involved in making was of any interest to me whatsoever. He really should stick to songs about genitalia in boxes.

Namo, if that's true about his homophobia, I will be extremely disappointed. Maybe he's a self hating gay? Anyway, should we believe everything we hear?

As for his music, I'm ok if he doesn't come up with anything more. He's done enough for music and cemented his place in history. I think he's a genius.

Would you want him to keep trying to match all his past work, or even top it, only to be ridiculed? (like someone else we know, lol)

ETA- I"m of the mind that no artist, in any genre, should be expected to keep producing on and on, way past the point that they are inspired, just to keep being "relevant." Maybe some artists feel they have done all they can, or want to.

I'm not saying Prince is an example of this.

When Wendy and Lisa talk about it on the record in an interview, and they are sad because they think he would have seemed so magical to their kids, then, yes, I personally chose to believe they're telling the truth.

They were of course doubly shocked, since Prince knew that they were lovers when they were in The Revolution and stopped the photo shoot for the poster inserted in the Purple Rain soundtrack so that he could have Lisa with her arm around Wendy. BEFORE he was a Jehova's Witness he was not only supportive, but used their relationship to further his sexual freedom agenda.

After reading that interview, and seeing the quotes about the Democrats being bad because they're for gay marriage, I decided not another single penny of mine was going to him. I can't even enjoy his music when it comes on anymore. Screw him.

I think Adele is hilarious. She never fails to charm me when she speaks. She makes me laugh every time. She's so naturally funny.

I didn't recall Chris Brown performing...not that I was looking for him. He disgusts me. I was sad to learn that I actually like a song of his that I keep hearing played in bars here in NYC...Don't Wake Me Up. I used SoundHound to get the info for the song so I could buy it and when I found out it was his I was so disappointed. I will not let him profit a single penny from my pockets.
