Actor Leading Role goes to Daniel Day-Lewis. I was hoping for a Bradley Cooper upset, but Day-Lewis was extraordinary.

That's what I am talking about. She still comes off as a kid to a lot of people. This news about David O. Russell's personal life reflected in the film seems fairly new, likely to fight some backlash.
And I loved that First Wives Club reference. An oddly large amount of people didn't get it.

Posted: 1/27/13 at 9:55pmFrom what I see, Jennifer has her game face on for that Oscar. Screw all these people who say "it doesn't matter if I win", I think she wants it. Her appearances are kicking into overdrive and you can tell her PR skills are getting better and Rachel Zoe is knocking it out of the park with her styling.

Somebody had to say it. Glad it wasn't me (all alone as the exhausted Zero Dark Thirty partisan who has read more think pieces on one film than the last 5 Oscar cycles).

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is fighting, but ARGO has the momentum. Another telling will be the WGAs on Feb 17 (a week before the Oscars). If SLP takes the WGA, it may have a better chance. Though even if that does happen, I think ARGO still takes Picture and SLP may get a screenplay Oscar instead.
How interesting (and wonderful!) it is that no one film is hogging all of the award categories. It's a very diverse year. Perhaps this year more than ever, a high number of films will be able to bill itself as an "Oscar-winning movie."

Did you hear the laughs when they showed Tommy Lee Jones in the film?
Jane, I'm watching the rebroadcast, and I'm pretty sure the laughing was within the scene.

What a joke! (A bad one) Jennifer Lawrence wins an award for that pouting moue? Did that role in that horrible movie even require any acting?

Posted: 1/28/13 at 12:13amI am very happy for Ben and think Argo is an incredible, well made movie. I just expected it to be a given that Lincoln would win especially with Spielberg's name attached to it and it was a great movie. Again, I am not minimizing Ben's talent and gift as a filmmaker. I am glad to see him win and think he deserves it. Certainly will make the Oscars interesting as I just expected Lincoln will win the Oscar. Now I think Argo could be the surprise win.

My first year voting. 15 categories. Only 4 of my votes ended up being winners. But I voted with my heart. :)
Really wish Naomi Watts (The Impossible) would have picked up some more awards this season. John Hawkes (The Sessions), too. Two of the finest performances I've ever seen, in two very under-seen films.

Posted: 1/28/13 at 12:21amSpielberg's last decade of work has been a lot of producing credits. His stuff directing post-Saving Private Ryan have not really done as well in terms of awards. Munich until Lincoln was considered his best shot (and that year it was definitely up for grabs, seriously.... Crash?).

I totally noticed that. They probably dont want to be caught on camera chewing.
I'd be all like, "Are you gonna eat that?" lol
