A day in the life of Walli, Broadway's most famous dog

A day in the life of Walli, Broadway's most famous dog

Hi All,

Marc Shaiman's loyal assistants, Lucian and Jess here to give everyone a glance into the private life of one of the most enigmatic members of the New York theatre community, Marc's golden retriever Walli. This idea started because Marc got Lucian a Sidekick (world's greatest IM/phone/camera device) and we both became completely obsessed with emailing photos and so we sent about forty nine thousand of those boring nearly identical photos to our (traveling) dear boss Marc because we miss him so. In turn, Marc had the great idea that we should post some of our beautiful photos here, so we would stop filling his inbox with our pointless thoughts! Lucian and I thought Marc was on to a great plan.

Join us for a look at Woo, follow this thread as she goes about her busy day as naturally as possible with a camera crew following her every move. By the way apparently this backwater technology will only allow me to post ONE IMAGE per written description, so bear with me. I'm already annoyed.

Boy was that post laden with Mac and Broadwayworld.com-related errors. I have kicked six holes into the bedroom wall and had to go calm myself down with a soothing ice cream snack, but I return. I should start at the beginning of our journey, when Lucian and I drove Walli down to the beach with our friend John. We arrived just shy of midnight to the discovery that the heat was not working! But since we are from Connecticut, Kansas City, and Texas respectively we knew what to do.

The poutiest member of our gang was Walli, who moped in the kitchen on the cold, cold floor.

More internet errors, anger, and ADD-raddled short tempered frustration. But never fear, Team Shaiman refuses to give up the noble cause of online posting. Just who is Team Shaiman, might you ask, who are these people who can do fancy things like start fires and drive a vehicle? We are the group of relentless consummate professionals that Marc Shaiman entrusts to make his every important decision. Here I am on The Internet right now negotiating a first look deal that Marc and I are helming and co producing. It's a think piece about an abandoned monkey who starts his own general store and finds the true meaning of Christmas. Working with Marc means I am close with all the greats, but I stay pretty humble about it all.

I'm trying to get down to the beach but my agent keeps calling because apparently Patti LuPone (the only REAL Evita) is dead set on playing the monkey. One thing Marc has really taught us is that family comes first so when Barbra Streisand calls and starts to leave a message on our answering machine, I have no choice but to press "4" on my cell phone speed dial to call back and scream at her for interrupting our Quality Time. Unfortunately this morning my and Lucian's Vicodin useage has been out of control and when I meant to hit "4" I pressed "7" and before I knew it, Martin Short was on board with the project. He only began to negotiate his contract after he learned that Woo (the only REAL Broadway dog) was involved. Nevertheless, despite all the showbiz excitement, Marc and I always try to stay in touch with our humble, humble roots so I took Woo for a stroll on our private beach.

Come night time, John decides to bake up a wholesome dinner of prepackaged cookies. Woo, a longtime fan of the kitchen, hovers nearby while he creates, using all two of her glorious tricks to get his attention: sitting and standing.

Our day comes to a close around 6am when the phone calls from LA finally stop ringing and we have also viewed every single episode of Sex and the City currently accessible via HBO on Demand. Lucian is now asleep and can't help me think up a suitable ending, so feel free to stop reading or write in an acceptable conclusion yourself. I hope Marc comes home soon. We ate all the food again and no one can remember how to turn off the hot tub. Time to go bring that Woo out for a walk!

I'm confused. Who is Walli Woo and why is he/she Broadway's most famous dog?
"Honey- Men don't want one woman. Do the same thing. Date many men. I DO! I am going through the exact same thing. Don't over eat, instead date others. You will be amazed how much fun it will be. Also play hard to get. Men are dogs honey. DOGS!" - Corine2 10/29/04

Walli has to leave for an event, and naturally she is acquiring some of her surrogate mother Jess's tastes for trash with flash fashion statements. Woo loves three people doting on her so much that she happily sits in the bathroom for ten minutes while we try on outfits and take desperate calls from Patti LuPone on our cell phones.

Time to take Daddy Marc's new Cadillac out for a joy ride - and if we get into any accidents, remember it's all because we let Woo steer.
