Anyone watch the first episode tonight? I didn't get to it, I don't know if I will. It doesn't really interest me.

I fell asleep halfway through, but what I watched was thoroughly unimpressive and on the nose. Like last year's Roanoke, I hope the writers acknowledge how false their characters sound ("What's going to happen to Merrick Garland?" "They couldn't have given us a trigger warning before they showed us that?"
and how far up their own a$$es they are, but hopefully sooner than halfway through the season.
For me, AHS's main problem has always been that it introduces so many plot lines in the first half, it has to spend the second half wrapping everything up quickly and we never get any sense of focus. I can already sense it happening this season with all the balls in the air just during the first act of the pilot (I fell asleep shortly after Sarah Paulson's character's trip to the grocery store).
I'll definitely finish the episode and keep up with the season at least a little longer, but after being faithful to the previous 6 seasons (actually, not so much with Hotel), I'm growing weary of the amateurish dialogue/plotting and the lack of a season-long focus.

I thought the first episode was a great set-up to what looks to be a wild ride of a season. For me, it had just the right blend of humor, pathos and horror. I laughed and gasped throughout the episode. I found Sarah Paulson's character to be both hilarious and disturbing, and Peter Evans was down right terrifying. Most of the humor came from Paulson's initial reaction to the outcome of the election - but to find the humor in it, you have to be able to laugh at yourself. I thought the Merrick Garland line, and how she delivered it, was laugh out loud funny! It uses the election as a jumping off point to explore the extreme reactions on both sides to a Trump presidency. I found it to be relevant, funny and scary. I also believe that the way you watch this show (maybe any show) has a lot to do with how much you get out of it. For me, I turn off the lights, put on my headphones and watch on a large screen TV with no distractions. I also record the show and watch afterwards so that I can FF through the commercials, which interrupts the flow. I become immersed in it. My friend, who watches on his iPad and doesn't bother to "set the mood" usually doesn't have the same visceral reaction to the show that I do. Then again, maybe it's just me. Personally, I think it's off to a great start!

I mean - it was really stupid. Not as God-awful as some of the others, but it was not good. If you go back it just makes absolutely zero sense. She's crazy and sees things oh wait no she doesn't they're real. But ok then, there's no security footage from the grocery store and they got into the restaurant and had sex in front of her left real quick so Pill didn't see? That's just one example but I really don't have much hope now.

Also, since we found out Paulson's "secret", I can't wait for the clowns to off her. Way to create a sympathetic victim, Ryan!

Wow, I didn't even know it was back. I watched about 4 episodes of Hotel and hated it. I only saw the first episode of the last season and just forgot about the show completely. And I haven't heard a word about this new season until this thread. No ads, no conversations, nothing at all. Seems like interest peaked with Freak Show and it's been fizzling out ever since. If it weren't for BWW, I wouldn't even know it was still running.

Luscious, I love so much that you called him Peter Evans.
The entire thing was worth it for Paulson screaming "Eff YOU, Nate Silver..." and for finding out which candidate she voted for.

Like all seasons of AHS (and most horror movies), reviews were mixed, but this season has garnered some of the best reviews of the series.

It appears Murphynis trying to cash in on IT. And those positive reviews remind me of positive reviews that tRump gets. If he's able to string together two cohesive sentences, he's praised. Same deal with a Ryan Murphy joint.

I attempted to watch the first episode of this tonight and thought I had put on the wrong show for a moment when it started with a recap of the election. Then I realized ugh it's the show and I shut it off and switched to The Sinner(which has been really entertaining so far.) I'll get to it at some point but this is not at all what I thought it was gonna be and I wasn't in the mood to watch political stuff tonight.

No I wasn't triggered at all, I'm not the least bit upset but from the preview trailers there wasn't anything political. I'll eventually watch but I was in the mood for dumb horror last night not dumb political satire. I even said I'll watch it eventually.

Thought it was atrocious, terrible, poorly executed in every sense, hilarious, and honestly the most relatable thing that I have ever seen. Actually that's usually how I feel about AHS.

Relatable is not how I'd describe AHS ever, except for the glorious 3rd season (Coven) when I LIVED for every single character.

Well...I may be in the minority (it wouldn't be the first time) but I'm loving it! Very entertaining! Scary, funny and relevant, with some great performances. Looking forward to the remainder of the season!

Personally, I'm really enjoying this season. What better source material for horror than the horror we are all*living daily at and since the Election!

Just had a chance to finally watch episode 2. I quite like it and don't get what the problem is for some.
I keep thinking of Alison Pill as Medium Alison. She's changing her major to horror.
