Namo, you expressed that nearly perfectly.

Funny, I thought Lily Rabe was like the least mannered I've ever seen her in this. I've found her much more annoying.

So wait, the guy at the gas station married to the black girl is Bloody Face?
And is that horny girl Chloe Sevigny (or however it's spelled)?
Yes on both counts Stockard.
And yes on Mark.
Though, whether the gas station newlywed is actually bloodyface, we'll have to tune in to find out...but the abduction scene makes it seem like aliens did it, and he was in the wrong place.
Thanks, doodle! This medical stuff is creeping me out! And Lily Rabe is annoying the hell out of me.
Namo, touche.
I know that things like SHUTTER ISLAND or SILENCE OF THE LAMBS didn't create those tropes (though I'd argue that moment in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS was subversive for its time period), but AMERICAN HORROR STORY is so easy in the way it replicates those monents, especially because they not only copy the moments but they use the same music, the same camera movements, dialogue, etc. I just cannot stand Ryan Murphy, but I also love too many of the cast members not fo watch.
PRS, at first I thought Lily Rabe wasn't particularly annoying but as soon as she started whining and trying to act like Amy Adams in Doubt, I haaaaated her. I particularly hated her reaction to the sh!t thrown in her face and she was embarrassing during her last scene with Lange.
I'm glad people are hating Lily Rabe as much as I've always hated her.
Jordan, my boyfriend always hates her and I try to defend her just because she's a stage actress, but after she provoked such a visceral reaction on me after last night's session I'm done defending her.
"Shutter Island was a pastiche, much like this. I never took AHS as original. I expect taking actual true crime stories and horror movies like he did last season."
Yeah, I feel dirty defending Murphy but, while he seems to think AHS is much more psychologically complex than it remotely is, he has been upfront fromt he start about it being basically a pastiche (though, of course he never used that word) of his favorite horror tropes, movies and stories. His ew.com post episode interviews are actually somewhat interesting (if you can get past his self-praise) and he often will freely list each episode's influences.
I still love it. And yeah, when Lily Rabe (don't know the character's name yet) pulled her habit up and pulled down her undies and was begging Jessica Lange to whip her I was like "Geez-us woman, pull yourself together!!!!"
I kinda love it too--and I hate saying that about Murphy (but as others have said, he works better at shows like this where you don't have to worry as much about motivation, etc). I actually think this pilot, even if it was all over the place, or because of it, showed more promise than the first pilot. Myabe it helps that he is leaning on his writing team due to being so busy, more.

I don't think, at this point, that's technically a pilot.

‘American Fear History,’ Year Only two, Episode 1, ‘Welcome to help Briarcliff’: Telly Go over
I'm overthinking it and working on a theory that, when Kit was probed up by aliens, he became bloody face by sporadic mind control. Something will literally click in his mind. And while I think it is bad writing to have Evan play the mysterious bad guy twice (since Tate was rubberman), it's Ryan Murphy so...
I'm finding myself wanting to rewatch it. That's a good sign, I think.
I sometimes have a feeling I could do Crystal Meth but then I think, "Nah, better not"
Reg, I always have to rewatch this show. I always catch something I missed the first time.
Even worse than last week. I don't ever need to see James Cromwell in his underwear grabbing his package. And how many inane euphemisms for vagina can one show come up with?

I loved it and during the episode I couldn't imagine what people would find to complain about. Being a gerontophile, I loved Cromwell's twisted scenes. He's long (as it were) been rumored to make Jon Hamm look like the Lucky Charms leprechaun in one important area.
