Well, if that's true. it's bye bye to Kris.

Posted: 5/6/09 at 11:17amA show as successful as this cannot be left up to chance. the AI producers are damn good.

Well they're not that good, they did choose Hicks and Studdard.
I was getting through for Adam pretty easily on both numbers...

"Well they're not that good, they did choose Hicks and Studdard."
I think they're pretty good. The show's as successful if not more than ever.
They've got reasons for everything they do.

I did love Ruben Studdard during Season 2. His version of "Superstar" is still one of my favorites.
But really..anyone who thought Taylor Hicks was a better singer than Elliott Yamin? Unforgivable.

Posted: 5/6/09 at 12:08pmYup Jane! I stopped voting years ago! Although I watch, the producers have become great manipulators of the American public. This is usually the week that one of the favorites goes home and usually it's a shocker. As much as I love Adam I wonder if they'll let him win simply because he has been the front-runner all along. I also think they could have cut down Kris so he could get more support from the fans. They have to realize that his popularity has been higher than they expected. I guess we'll see tonight!

In case anyone missed Danny's final note last night- here it is on YouTube. He looks different without his glasses.

I also have not voted in years.
Newgirl, I also liked Ruben a lot. (But I was a bigger Clay fan haha) Remember when Ruben was in the bottom one week and it was the shock of the century? I think that was the time when I realized the producers manipulate the votes.

Posted: 5/6/09 at 12:57pmGod, I can't wait for this season of The Simon Show to end. He's just predictable and sickening. Simon Says Danny probably won't be in the bottom two and sadly, much of the general public probably subscribe to anything that plops out of his gaping hole. Danny truly sucked big time last night and deserves to go home, but I fear it might be Allison. She doesn't seem to catch on with the audience and her poor song choice only weakened her chances.

That would be awesome BB.......
Their duet last night singlehandedly (sp?) convinced me I want to go to the tour.

guys, the producers decide who goes, not the votes!
Aaactually, I'm not so sure.. I definitely believe that they mess around with who's in the bottom, but.. why WOULD they decide themselves who goes home? If they do, it's solely their loss when the person who "wins" doesn't do well, you know what I mean? They've got this incredible tool at their disposal that actually lets them KNOW who is most popular, and who will be most likely to make big money. It would be utterly stupid if they didn't listen. The people who vote are the same people who are going to be buying the records! If you have the tools to know what the public wants, why on earth would you not use them if you rely on the public to make money?
I think they mess around with who's in the bottom to stir up drama, but in the end the person who goes home IS the person with the lowest votes I think
Just my thinking :)

Do you think they want another Taylor Hicks fiasco?
Chris Daughtry's 2 1/2 year old CD is still selling more weekly than Taylor Hick's 6 week old sophomore effort.
That said, I still vote because I don't know anything for sure. Better safe than sorry and all that.

I didn't know Taylor Hicks had another album... wow, no surprise it's not doing well!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#1990
Posted: 5/6/09 at 2:11pmHAHAHA! Exactly! He produced, promoted and distributed it himself since we was dropped by his record label.

Taylor Hicks is living, breathing, proof that the producers aren't fixing the votes.
and if Danny wins, that will be further proof.

snl, the show is a business. The bottom line is ratings. The producers care more about the ratings and income the show generates than who "should" win.
That being said, I know it takes the fun out of the show to believe what I'm saying. I hope those of you who are into it will keep voting and enjoying the show!

How is that?

After the votes are collected and tabulated by AT&T and the show's survey firm, Telescope, "all we're told at the end of the day is, 'Here are the Bottom 3,' " he says. "And we make whatever we can out of that and turn it into a show."
Fans were shocked to see Adam Lambert, the runaway fave to win this year's competition, in jeopardy of going home this week. That set rumors flying that maybe producers had fiddled with the outcome for dramatic effect.
Not possible, Lythgoe told The Post yesterday. But that doesn't mean there is no wiggle room.
Since "Idol" never specifically states who the second- and third-lowest vote getters are, any conclusions that the audience draws from the order that they're sent to the safe stand is purely "up to the public at home."
I'm surprised they are admitting that much.
