AMERICAN IDOL
re: AMERICAN IDOL#200
Posted: 2/2/09 at 6:13pmVic, he's the one who was in the LA production of Wicked.

^Yup, and he's actually, vocally at least, one of the best Fiyeros I've known of :P (haven't actually seen videos of him acting it, but his "As Long As You're Mine" is so gorgeous)
He's really very very talented. The ONLY thing I worry about is if his super high falsetto is going to turn some people off. Hopefully he'll mix it up a little on the show, cause he really does have a lovely non-falsetto voice too!
Aaand he earns EXTRA points in my book because, as far as I know, he's the first person ever to go INTO Idol being openly gay! Which doesn't/shouldn't matter a bit in terms of the competition, but it's just... really pretty awesome <3
(Technically I suppose one could argue that Danny Noriega from last year was first, but technically I don't think he had ACTUALLY been publicly out. He just.. was himself, and by proxy you assumed his sexual preference haha)
re: AMERICAN IDOL#202
Posted: 2/2/09 at 6:46pmWell I just hope it doesn't turn off the fangirly girls, because he is really talented. Although Danny N. had lots of fangirls and yeah. It was pretty obvious.

Sound stick, Tatiana?? Really??
I think she needs to be beat over the head with a sound stick. What an idiot. I can't believe she's through.

Danny and Adam FTW <333
They were like the ONLY redeeming factors in the whole show haha
Adam can do whatever the heck he wants in terms of the look- he's still a friggin cutie, and probably the best vocalist of the whole season :P (WAS he wearing eye make-up though? I wasn't even paying enough attention to notice haha. I just heard him friggin kicking butt vocally)

I didn't think Tatiana made it through, danmag.
No the top group is announced next week, ljay.

Is Tatiana the laughing girl? Yes she made it through but I'm not sure how. It's bikini girl who got cut but do we even know her name?
I'm just happy that my Danny made it through. I know he looks a little like Robert Downey Jr but he also makes me think of a cross between David Cook and David Archuleta.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#210
Posted: 2/5/09 at 7:36amI thought they were going to end the group thing at Hollywood week. I think the only reason they keep it in is because of all the DRAMA! I just don't think it's right because the show is looking for a solo singer. Some of these kids don't even know the others before they sign up for a group. I think a lot of really good singers miss the boat because of group performances. I also think that some of the kids are shown in a very bad light and it keeps them from getting votes. Having said that- I loved the "White Chocolate" group that went first and I loved the group that sang Queen. Also loved Bikini Girl- aka Katrina- falling flat on her face. What a poor excuse she had for not performing well. just sayin'

Posted: 2/5/09 at 7:59amsupportivemom - Idol does a a lot of stupid things to week out otherwise good singers. Group week is one, and theme nights are another. Even David Cook barely squeaked past country night - he'd built enough of a fanbase that he stayed around, but he wasn't that great for it. I'll never understand why they put the contestants through some of these "tests" that have nothing to do with who they are as an artist, or even who Idol will WANT them to be.

That's right Tatiana is laughing girl. I was thinking of bikini girl, who is Katrina.
I was actually pretty entertained last night by all the drama, but I live for crap like that. What can I say, I taught HS girls and coached varsity cheerleading for 10 years. I need my fix.
I thought there were some let go last night that shouldn't have been but I'll live. And I was sort of surprised that the Osmond kid went, but they didn't show his performance so what do I know?
re: AMERICAN IDOL#213
Posted: 2/5/09 at 8:08amI want to see Megan Cokery sing again -- I thought she was terrible in her audition, and we didn't see her at all this week - I want to know how she keeps getting through! (She was the one who sang Can't Help Lovin That Man of Mine). A friend and I had a big discussion about her - my friend LOVED her - I thought she was so far off the melody as to be terrible!

I don't remember her?
I was wondering if Michael Castro made it through but at the very end they showed he did. I think they're trying to not show him too much right now since he already has the advantage of being Jason's brother?

I know she made it past last night - I saw her in that clipreel at the end. She was the one with all the tattoos on her arm...

I think they hide contestants until we vote for them. They didn't show Joanna Pacitti once during Hollywood week. And I forgot all about Jason Castro's brother.
From what we have heard, I think it's going to be a great to 12.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#218
Posted: 2/5/09 at 11:47amI agree, clever. I don't see or remember half of them until weeks in. It makes it pretty hard to root for someone early on.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#219
Posted: 2/5/09 at 11:55amI wanted to shoot that Nathaniel last night. He's the boy with all the tattoos and the headband who was crying and throwing a fit last night and creating unnecessary drama in his group. The worst!

Yeah, I agree- it's a good idea that they keep many of the really good people hidden away. Makes it way more interesting to see who will emerge as the best as the season progresses :)
This is REALLY weird though, because I'm already finding myself kinda obsessing over Adam haha. I think that has completely to do with the fact that there are tons of videos of him on youtube, so I feel like I know his talent waaay more than the few minutes they've shown of him on the actual show.
That said, I'm reminding myself not to get TOTALLY fangirly just yet :) I mean, no matter what I think he's totally adorable, but in terms of the competition, right now I'm just at the "I'm rooting for him to do well" stage. Not expecting that he'll win, or anything like that, simply because it really is way too early to tell!
It's just weird, because I've never been so interested in a contestant this early on haha. It's always been at LEAST semifinals before I really decide who I really like
re: AMERICAN IDOL#221
Posted: 2/5/09 at 1:33pmsnl- I think you are already obsessed (which is okay- I think he's really good too). Now you have to come up with a name for his fanatics (like Claymates, the Soul Patrol). Can't wait to see what you come up with!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#223
Posted: 2/5/09 at 2:52pmOK...its early..Im bad with names..but if Adam is the kid from Wicked, that girl can keep her mitts off of him...hes on mine and Clay's team....lol.
