Kris TOTALLY won Round 1
Adam TOOK Round 2, though Kris was pretty pretty
Round 3 no one won because that SONG was atrocious
Adam wins based on voice and showmanship.
Kris wins because I will buy his album in a heart-beat.
I am voting for BOTH (sue me)!

Posted: 5/19/09 at 10:23pmOh, Kara DioGuardi. You've written far better songs. Couldn't they have just both gone out there and sung La La instead?

Yes, Kara has written FAR better songs. Yeesh. Poor Kris, that last song was too big for him, and somehow too small for Adam at the same time.
I'm with EugLoven. I love both, and will likely buy BOTH albums.
Though I am an Adam fanboy at heart.

I'm glad (or not, considering I want Adam to win) that Kris went with Ain't No Sunshine over Falling Slowly. The night he did Ain't No Sunshine was the first time I thought he'd had the best performance of the night, whereas Falling Slowly was nice but paled in comparison to the original. It was more the novelty of a great song like that on American Idol than it was a truly great performance. Kind of like when Jason Castro did Hallelujah. (Kris really is the continuation of what Jason Castro introduced to the show. Except Kris Allen is legitimately talented, and Jason Castro just flirted with talent.)
It was certainly a close one tonight. I can't say I've ever actually enjoyed a top 2 that much.

Posted: 5/20/09 at 12:55amKris has been ahead on dial idol all night ....now that might not mean anything but they have always picked the fianle winner if I am not mistaken.

DialIdol has been very accurate in the past, but I think this year is a LOOOOT closer than almost any other finale, with the exception of Clay and Ruben in S2. So really I think what DialIdol is basically saying is that it's too close to call :)
It's literally like a 1.15% difference or something. CRAZY CRAZY close!
It's going to come down to text votes I think. And... Kris seems to kind of be the king of text votes because there were a few weeks he was dead last on DialIdol and wasn't even in the bottom 3. BUT, Adam very well might be king of text votes also!
So yeah... it's still essentially 50/50. SOOO nerve wracking!
I mean, I really really do love Kris. He's had his fair share of GORGEOUS, wonderful performances. But it's just.. I can't help it, I've had this beautiful vision of Adam winning since the very beginning, and it'll be such a disappointment if it doesn't happen
I'll be very happy for Kris, but it'll still be disappointed.
There's just so many reasons why I would be SO proud if Adam won! I mean besides the fact that he's clearly got the best voice any way you slice it, and the fact that he really does have international star potential. But then there's also the fact that.. it would show that the country is becoming more open to "out of the box" people/performers. And I don't mean that in reference to the gay thing- although that IS a pretty big deal if you think about it- it's everything about him. The fact that someone so unique, so polarizing, and so daring could come in and actually gain a large enough fan base to WIN the whole thing... that really says a lot I think about what we're valuing as a country right now. Eccentricity and uniqueness is becoming more highly valued, and I love that.
So yeah, for ALL of those reasons, an Adam win would mean so much to me.
Plus, I think I got spoiled after the AMAZINGNESS that was last year with David Cook! I'm used to my favorite WINNING now, and anything less it going to be so not okay! hehe

Posted: 5/20/09 at 3:37amThat song, No Boundaries, was TERRIBLE!!!!!!! OMG, what a generic piece of trash. The winner's song is always terrible. The only one worth anything was A Moment Like This.

snl, I've never had someone I've voted for all season win. So I REALLY will be happy if it's Adam.
I guess we all just have to wait until 10:07 tonight to see.

Fantasia's victory song, "Believe" was pretty good. I'd say she has yet to do better for herself.
QUESTION???
Is it still only AT&T customers that can text votes?

1st song - Tie
2nd song - Kris was better
3rd song - Adam was better
My pick is Kris, though clearly the last song, cheesy as it was, was far too high for him. I'm not sure why they forced him to sing out of his range for 75% of the song unless they simply don't want him to win. It reminded me of performing in Godspell where my part in most of the songs was nothing but belting E-G for the entire song (and the high D-flat in my solo, We Beseech Thee). Many performers can sing those notes, but few are meant to stay in that range for almost the entire song. Adam can do it because he has an unnaturally high range. But I thought it was ridiculous to force anyone else to sing in Adam's range. Might as well put Tiny Tim in the competition.

I hated Adam's first song!
Still, I believe that he will win.

Posted: 5/20/09 at 12:00pmKara's new song was awful. Neither guy sounded good singing it. The arrangement/orchestration was too busy, and the back-up singer(s)sounded like a cat being strangled.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2366
Posted: 5/20/09 at 12:32pmAgreed. It was excruciating listening to both of them sing it.

I liked their first choices, and the second songs. I'm assuming Kara's was the third? (My friends and I were watching last night and none of us really enjoyed either guys' final performance).
Whoever wins, I'll be happy.

SPOILER
Looks like Kris won...but it is very close so texts may have helped Adam.

^Wait what are you going by? haha
Because literally, DialIdol is SO CLOSE that even they themselves say it's like a dead tie. Kris is only ahead by 1.1%. Now, the fact that he STAYED ahead by that much all night makes it a little scary in regards to Adam, but even still that doesn't mean a whole lot. With the margin of error being higher than the % between them, it could very well be that Adam's actually ahead of Kris and DI is just messed up, who knows!
I really do have a feeling this thing might be closer even than season 2 with Clay and Ruben! It's REALLY impossible to know who's actually won.
I miss last year when Cook had a very large lead and I didn't really have to be worried about him not winning
Then again, I love Kris so much too, so it's not like it'd be SUPER hard to see him win.
Still, I'm not giving up hope for Adam yet. And actually, all the other sites that predict the winners seem to be pointing to Adam! I'm not quite sure how they do it- if they actually use software to calculate the votes like DI does or what. But ZabaSearch, Intrade, and VoteNumber1 have always been accurate in the past, and they're all saying Adam. That, in combination with the fact that DialIdol has been a bit on the fritz all season anyway, makes me confident there's still a plenty good chance it could happen! :)
I think I'm going to go into tonight expecting Kris to win. That way, if it happens, cool, I'll be really happy for him, it'll be adorable. And if it doesn't, well then YAYYYY!!!!

Posted: 5/20/09 at 1:07pmKara should be fired. She added absolutely nothing to an already bogged-down, judge-ladden show, and her song is atrocious! Fire. Her.

Posted: 5/20/09 at 1:18pmAdam's Mad World was great...he didnt need the dry ice or the coat, but he sang it beautifully. Kris did a great job on ...Sunshine. Adam did much better on the second and third numbers (tho I agree that Kara's song bit.)

Dialidol has been off plenty this season. If I picked their bottom three each week I wouldnt be winning my office pool.
I think Kara's been a great judge exept for that effing song and during auditions when she started to "coach" a few auditioners. Her comments have been well thought out (Paula?), constructive (Randy?) and kind (Simon?).
