AMERICAN IDOL

It took 3 people to write that atrocious song!! The AI boards were going wild about it last night, saying that she actually wrote it with Danny in mind, because she thought he was going to be in the finale.
I still want Kris to win the whole thing, in my opinion, he is the whole package..he takes a song and decides how it best works for him without ruining the song. Adam in my opinion, takes the song and tries to outperform the the song every time. If he would just sing the song he would do fine, he doesn't need to outshine the song. Its like Kris gets on that stage for the musics sake and Adam gets on that stage for attention ..and thats what puts some people off.
With that being said.....I was surprised as heel at how close the tallies on DI seem to be, I expected a much farther spread between the two.

Paula has trouble spitting out the words, but she's not nearly as psycho or incoherent as the reports I've heard (which is more of a result of a Simon-induced publicity machine than anything else). Simon's remarks are 95% self-indulgent performance and 5% objective criticism. Kara was far and away the most effective judge of the four.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2377
Posted: 5/20/09 at 2:50pmThey should keep Simon and Kara, and dump Randy and Paula. I think Simon could be more effective if he didn't have to follow Paula's comments. He wastes too much time commenting on her comments rather than commenting on the performance. Randy is just a total waste of time.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2379
Posted: 5/20/09 at 3:52pmmadbrain - Simon would then just waste time commenting on Kara's comments. I honestly think he believes he is the only reason people watch the show. And given the amount of press and attention he has received for no other reason than acting like a douche on this one TV show, he has a point. He'll continue to do it regardless who is on the panel and he is the reason I never watched a full season until now and probably never will again. He has demonstrated far too often that the performances and comments are secondary to his behavior. I'm really looking forward to the finale as my commitment will be fulfilled and I'll never have to watch this crap again. Without Simon, I believe the show could actually be somewhat watchable.

Simon's a jackass, no doubt, but he really is one of the main reasons I watch it. Underneath his comments about the other judges, Ryan, etc., he's usually pretty spot on about the contestants. I was fine with Kara until she started spouting off "Studio 57" and "early Aerosmith...like Cryin'." For someone in the music industry, shouldn't she...you know, know something about it?
This is why I really came in here, though:
A big, collective "awwww"!

Good news, my dear...he talks about leaving in TV guide...next season is supposed to be his last.
(I'll believe it when I see it.)
He does make some valid points sometimes and I often agree with him on merit, but his degradation is repetetive and he seems (and looks) like a petulant child not getting their way.
The play between the judges and host have made this show feel so tired.
Also, this week, an article on the final three referred to Adam as an out gay man...interesting because I thought he wasnt actually out on the show.

Posted: 5/20/09 at 4:16pmThe only performancs I enjoyed last night were their first songs. Loved both performances the first time, so I was glad they chose those two songs again. When Simon was making fun of Kara's song, she just kind of went, "I know, I know"...maybe even she thought the song was ****ty! LOL

I think Kara's been a great judge exept for that effing song and during auditions when she started to "coach" a few auditioners. Her comments have been well thought out (Paula?), constructive (Randy?) and kind (Simon?).
While all that may be true, who really cares? She's still extraneous and unnecessary, in a show where there are already 3 unnecessary judges. At least those three are original to the show, and part of the culture of the show. She's just, nothing.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2384
Posted: 5/20/09 at 6:48pmSimon's the main reason I watch the show. I love his comments-they're spot on. He's not afraid to say what he thinks. I hope he doesn't leave the show. I think their ratings might plummet. Except, of course, if they get another judge like him to replace him.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2385
Posted: 5/20/09 at 6:59pmI love Simon too Jane. He always says what I'd be afraid to say out loud.

I think even though the audience boos him, they can't wait to hear what he says.
The only thing I can't stand about him is his hairdo. I have no idea why he wears that on his head or what he thinks it looks like, LOL!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2388
Posted: 5/20/09 at 7:22pmClearly he loves that 'do, he's been wearing it for years! I can't help but think of either a shoe brush or something I can't say here!

I thought that, too!
Also, about the judges, Simon is the only one who actually knows what he's talking about. Kara sort of does, but she still sounds like an idiot half the time.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2394
Posted: 5/20/09 at 8:12pmThat was an abomination. Why the heck did they give Jasmine, the first girl to get kicked off, a solo line? My eardrums are bleeding.

re: AMERICAN IDOL#2395
Posted: 5/20/09 at 8:14pmSo what are they going to do for two hours? Too bad there's nothing else on, and then I could tune back in at the last five minutes.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2397
Posted: 5/20/09 at 8:19pmI suspect so. I really wish he hadn't dyed his hair... whatever that color is. Dina Lohan skin-color, maybe?

Jane, they drag this crap out way too long. And remember, Ryan warned us that it's going to run OVER the allotted time.

Completely agree. I disliked Kara immediately.
