"I didn't ignore a thing that DGrant said, even though I know he said it exclusively for the purpose of starting an argument which is actually going to stop here."

Evelyn - you stated this back on the last page, and I took you at your word. The only address I've made to you since then is to ask for a clarification, which I never received.

And by the way, my initial post in this thread addressed an acting performance that YOU brought up, and only used YOUR words to solidfy my point.

I agree with Evelyn. DGrant you're being obnoxious.

Curtain - coming from the person who posts emoticons of penises being masturbated, you'll pardon me if I don't get all choked up by your denigration.

I wasn't trying to denegrate you DGrant. Perhaps you have a persecution complex. Poor thing. You just haven't been the same since that damn election.

Oh... and a big P.S.

I know I can be obnoxious. But here's a newsflash for you... I really don't care what you or anyone else on this board thinks about me. And to answer your next question... I'm here because I feel like it. And I'm not going anywhere. Now kindly stop acting like your so above it all and your s#*t doesn't stink. And please stop harassing other board members.

"Again, not happy about "Shark Tale" for Best Animated Picture. Not even happy that all those nominees are computer-generated flicks."

Rest assured that next year, a stop motion flick will probably be nominated. those of us with too much time on out hands...

Would that be the new one being produced by Tim Burton, Evelyn?

Mmhm The Corpse Bride. Unless the trailer is an illusion, this film is already looking to be one of the three to five 2006 nominees for Best Animated Feature.

Of course this is coming from someone who thought, based on its trailer, that Alexander would be a frontrunner for the Best Picture Oscar.

Gosh, so much squabbling, personal attacking, petty bickering and hurt feelings from such intelligent and mature people whom enjoy reading on the boards. Could you just put all that aside for a sec?

I spend so much time going to play after play after play in New York that I haven't seen most of the nominated films -- something I'm hoping to correct in the next few weeks.

Just wondering, for those of you who obviously know and have an opinion, what are the three or four (or five) nominated films you'd say I should make a point of seeing before Oscar night? And I mean not just the Best film candidates (I'll try to see most of those), but are there special performances I should catch or films with terrific screenplays that have been underrated (I loved Eternal Sunshine) and might have a chance at pulling an upset? What are YOUR favorites?

Thanks.

In this order:

1. Kinsey
2. The Aviator
3. Sideways
4. Vera Drake (see it and then tell me whether I should go out of my way to see it)
5. Million Dollar Baby

Of the nominated films, I would try to see Sideways, Million Dollar Baby and The Aviator. Ray is being released on DVD February 1. You could always rent it and watch it at your leisure before the awards. You might also want to check out Vera Drake and Hotel Rwanda.

Oh and Margo... you might also want to catch CLOSER, if only for Clive Owen's powerful performance. I'm sure you've seen the play. And is there a Mike Nichols film that isn't worth seeing?

Thanks so much. I'm going to make a point of seeing most of your suggestions. I've been trying to squeeze in Sideways and Million Dollar Baby, for weeks and several people have told me to see Closer, The Aviator and Vera Drake. Kinsey also looks intresting so, I'll try to find time for it. I'll see Ray on DVD next week.

Thanks again!

Evelyn: I made the Spike Lee comment in reference to your claiming that Pulp Fiction is racist. And, maybe next time, you can just reply in PM. k?

I HAVE SAID THIS A MILLION TIMES AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN: Moore DID NOT keep F/911 out of the Best Doc category in some vain attempt to get a Best Picture nod. He did it because he wanted to air it on TV before the election--a violation of the Best Doc category's rules. A film can be nominated for both a Best Doc and Best Pic OR Best Animated Film and Best Pic OR as has happened many times, Best Foreign Film and Best Pic.

Margo--a complete (unbiased) check list of the films an Oscar watcher should see (in order of liklihood to take it's category):

The Aviator
Million Dollar Baby
Sideways
Ray (video)
Finding Neverland
Being Julia
Vera Drake
Hotel Rwanda
Closer
The Incredibles
The Sea Inside
Eternal Sunshine... (video)
Collateral (video)
Maria Full of Grace
The Motorcycle Diaries
Before Sunset (video)

This will get you caught up. There are other films that got tech nods, and, of course, all of the docs, shorts, and animated films.
