Oh, another question. So let's say you all have your Adult Message Board, and you post some great threads that some teens might like to be a part of. Would there be any way that those threads could also be posted where non-adults can see them? That way we're not deprived of good conversations as well?
In the current incarnation of the idea, anyone would be able to visit the board and see the threads.
(Just as you can see everything on BWW without being a "member")
And we go round and round and round in a circle game . . .
I love Joni Mitchell.
I hate the threadjack, but I love that song.

Sheesh, I go out for 2 hours....
Smartpenguin said a few pages back that no matter what we do, anyone can still read what's being said. Even if there was an 'adult only board' you can't stop anyone on the internet from reading it. Unless, like *I* said a few pages earlier, you password protect it.
Kringas, I never said my comment was appropriate, but I also never said that we should censor all of bww into making it child friendly. I should also clarify. To an extent I do censor myself here. Well maybe not censor myself, but I do refrain from commenting on a lot of things. Mostly because I don't know who's reading this.... but for the most part 99.99999% of what I say is me. In person, there might be a few more curse words or vulgarities with some of the things I say, but I'm really too lazy to go around the filter here. If I didnt restrain myself, I'd have a WHOLE lot more to say right now..... mostly to specific people instead of just aiming my comments to the board as a whole in generalization.
Liotte, the mention of my chest didn't 'threadjack' for more than 2 posts. And *I* was not the one who mentioned it to begin with. And 'threadjacking' happens in everyday conversation.... people digress when they talk -- you can't expect that NOT to happen on a message board. Also, I didn't say that comment that you responded to. Read my post again. I merely reported the comment.

I contend that "password protection" is a total joke. Whoever wants to see and particpate in the site will do it.

That song was my avatar for awhile! Then I changed it to this. Which you can probably see....
Sorry, threadjack, proceed.

I think some kids my age know more about sex and drugs than many adults. Censoring is a stupid idea in my opinion and it wouldn't really work anyway.
CJR, I thought your friend who was with you was the one who made that comment, so I thought you would know why.

She was. She didn't say why she made it. She just said it.

So if you don't agree or don't know why she said it, why did you post it?

Who said I didn't agree? I told you point blank in my first post that for starting this thread, essentially to complain about the children, I found you just as immature as the posters you were complaining about.

Alright, fair enough.
I'd apologize for wanting to talk to adults for once instead of with the teens all the time (which you know I do, since I frequently am in the BWW chat room), but I don't think I have anything to apologize for.

I also said outright in my first post that I understood where this was coming from.... but that you can't expect to somehow make something adults only.
You wanna talk to adults? Talk to them. For the most part, we know who the adults are on here. Nobody's stopping anyone else from talking to anyone.
The way I see it, is this was started as a community for fans and theatre professionals alike. There are going to be kids, there are going to be adults who act like kids... there are going to be assholes. Just like in life. There's really nothing you (generalization, not you specifically) can do about it, so why complain? The only way you (again, general) can make something specifically adults only is if you can have jurisdiction over it yourself -- like say, an outing... or an adult only chat on AIM or something of that like. The board as a whole, well, it will always be available for everyone to read -- even the kiddies -- even if they cant post on it.

don't it always seem to go,
that you don't know what you've got til it's gone,
they've paved paradise,
and put up a parking lot.....

I would like to say some things here if I may.-first of all-I read a few posts which mentioned that the new board would be for sex topics? That's news to me. I don't mean to speak for every adult here, but I venture to say that wasn't our goal in having the adult board.
Secondly-I take exception to being told that if I want to hang around with and have adult conversations I should GO OUT. Why should I? I want to have adult friends and conversations on the internet also. Exactly like younger people are able to have with their peers. Why tell us to GO OUT?
YWIW-right, we're going round and round, and this is what I thought as I was reading the thread-we're carrying on like we're about to amend the Constitution! All we're talking about is the creation of one little board on a message site! Don't go to it if you don't want to. I know this has been said before, but it's true. Let's try out an additional board here.
The solution is simply to shut down the off topic board. This is a Broadway and theater site and all messages should be centered on that. Everything else can be found and posted someplace else on the internet.
LOL- I don't even dare....meet you at the bit**** thread.

now there's the absolute dumbest post I have ever seen here.....
obviosuly eadie didn't pay attn to the title of the thread
The kids who are still hanging in being annoying, because "they want whatever they can't have", are exactly who I'd like to be able to have a conversation without.
If you want adult conversation GO OUT and talk to adults?... Wanna bet that little gem came from the mouth of a babe whose parents are still footing her internet bill?
