no, i dont hate anyone. except maybe GWB. i have a very strong dislike for him. :)
i just dont agree with republicans on virtually... anything! so why would i take part in their party? just me.
Whether or not this selection helps McCain win the White House, the double-whammy of a surprise pick, and a woman, has completely obliterated Obama from the news.
Honestly, I suggested to friends a year ago that she'd be on the eventual nominee's short list until she announced her pregnancy.
1. she had a baby 4 months ago born with Down Syndrome
2. AK was the first state to pass a Consitution banning same-sex marriage
3. she went the whistleblower route on many of her fellow GOPers at the state level
4. she's a member of Feminists for Life
5. wants ANWR open
Hum, at 44 she's younger than even Obama; she has executive experience as governor and she's want ANWR open. Even if Team McCain loses this time out, I'm predicting right here and now that Sarah Palin will be the first woman to serve as POTUS. This news is a harbinger of things to come.
I wouldn't advise her to join Team McCain now though. She'll become the GOP equivalent of Gerry Ferraro. Let McCain implode this year and come to rescue of her party 4 years out. Hell, I say she's a better GOP candidate for POTUS than McCain presently.

This choice who is against choice will not appease PUMA, it might and should inflame those who support women's rights!
"Also, I'm surprised that there is so much hatred for John McCain,"
How can we not hate a man that once said he was for openly serving in the military but now thinks "Don't ask, don't tell" is good enough?
How can we not hate a man that doesn't think hate crime law should extend to crimes against sexuality?
How can we not hate a man that thinks it should be legal to discriminate in the work place against women and homosexuals?

No, he has not.
JB2 - you are reaching a bit on that one.
This is a big Meh to me.
When your party is against reproductive rights, and equal pay for equal work, putting a woman on the ticket doesn't solve those problems.
Most people I know would have preferred Romney, because at least he knows something about money. This was pandering to the worst degree.
"This choice who is against choice will not appease PUMA, it might and should inflame those who support women's rights!"
PUMA people are not Clinton supporters they were/are right wing operatives. There are campaign donation records to prove it.
He seems to be wanting to straddle the fence on this one. She's conservative enough that the right wing of the party won't storm out of the convention, but enough of an unconventional, maverick choice to satisfy those in the party that want a new direction.
I think the pick helps him more than Pawlenty or Romney would have, to be honest.
You're right, JB2. This hate helps no one. We should instead wait until the GOP convention and complain about the stage setting or something relevant like that.

So you hate Bill Clinton, then. I hadn't noticed that.
Hey listen, I can't stand John McCain. I'm just bringing up talking points.
A woman on the ticket is a smart idea. There is no ifs ands or buts on that...
But but but Clinton.
It is pretty comical that Bill Clinton gets brought into almost every critique of candidates.
Let your candidate stand on his own.
What we think, or don't think, about Clinton caving to the right on the DADT policy is irrelevant. Unless of course you are agreeing that Bill Clinton's successful two terms are the benchmarks of all future Presidents.
can someone help me find a good photo of the Obama's at last nights convention. a family shot of them with the girls... i wanna make it my avatar but cant find a good one online.
"Palin is a social conservative who is strongly opposed to abortion and same sex marriage. In addition, she is pro-gun and wildly popular in Alaska."
Praise Jesus! You do realize that if McCain should win, there is a very likely change this woman will be filling Supreme Court seats in a few years, if not sooner, right?
Not from last night, but I love this photo:
"So you hate Bill Clinton, then. I hadn't noticed that."
Actually I'm not a huge fan. Clinton was responsible for some serious unrest in the world. Don't ask don't tell was a progressive policy that should have expired and opened to full rights. I'm actually all for the "don't ask" part." At the time it seemed like it would lead to a brighter day. Bill's opinion has changed as well he is now for gays openly serving. McCain actually regressed.
youwantit... weird!! i just changed my profile pic to that exact photo because i love it so much too!
This is the best decision since Harriet Miers was nominated to the Supreme Court.
Next to Huckabee, I can't think of a politician I dislike more.
I suppose he needed an arch conservative, and he got one.
I was expecting him to go the other way around, Taz, like choosing a more liberal conservative, pardon the oxymoron. The general mood of the country is anti-conservative, I think.
Oh, dear. This is Sarah?

"The general mood of the country is anti-conservative, I think."
I would love to think that, Jane, but I think it's more the general mood of this board, you know what I mean?
for example, my family are all involved in the church, and nothing will ever, and I mean ever sway them from voting conservative. They could disagree with everything else about their repub. candidate, but as long as their morals line up with their version of the Bible (abortion, gay rights, all that juicy stuff),they will vote conservative.

Well, this will give Amy Poelher something to do during election season.
